La Crosse Area Chamber of Commerce Expo on October 2, 2007 Association Job/ Fair during Winter Conference on January 23, 2008 at Monona Terrace Convention Center in Madison, Wisconsin Houston High School s Day Event on March 3, 2008 in Houston, Minnesota Winona State University in Winona, Minnesota on April 23, 2008 Washburn Academy conference on July 16, 2008 at Holmen High School Association Job Bank Association Foundation Scholarship Program Association Foundation Scholarship Program Association Foundation Scholarship Program Approximately 80 job seekers were in attendance. Open positions at WXOW and WQOW were available for those interested. Presentation including information on how to get started in the business and what skills are needed. Presentation to Communication s class. Discussion included how to create resume tapes, where to apply and what to expect during an interview. Offered advice to students on their current projects. Participation in this annual 2 day event that connects local teachers with business people. The focus on the forum is to provide teachers with information about what employers want and expect from students entering the work force. All full time job openings are listed on the WBA s website and in their newsletter as part of our commitment to broad outreach. To support the scholarship program, WXOW and WQOW donated $300 to the program in December WXOW promoted the availability of the WBA s Scholarship Program and how to apply in October 2007 to our employees and on our station s website. Dave Booth represents both WXOW and WQOW on the Education Committee for the WBA. 20 WXOW has an on-going internship program Association held a Student Seminar at the Marriot Madison West on February 16, 2008 This program is designed to assist college students in gaining handson experience in the field of broadcasting. Assistance from the WBA Internship Program can be acquired in recruiting interested interns. The WBA distributed a list of current stations including WXOW and WQOW that have broadcasting internships available.
