2 What a difference Dear partners in mission, Yes, to be sure, you, our benefactors, who gift us with your time, treasure and talent, are partners in furthering God s mission for the Sisters of Providence begun by Saint Mother Theodore Guerin more than 175 years ago. We are excited to make available our Annual Report (Fiscal Year Sept. 1, 2015-Aug. 31, 2016) which will show in greater detail just how your partnership and collaboration played out and made a difference in creating a more just and hope-filled world through prayer, education, service and advocacy. Your generosity once again humbles us as we are well aware that supporting the Sisters of Providence is a choice you knowingly make each time you send a gift our way. We remain ever grateful. your gift made in ! Your gifts supported our sisters in ministries, addressing people s needs and showing love, mercy and justice. Your gifts assisted us in caring for our sisters who are retired and/or in need of health care and related therapies. Your gifts supported bringing thousands of visitors to Saint Mary-of-the- Woods for spiritual and educational programs, on pilgrimages to the Shrine of Saint Mother Theodore, and for tours and family events. Your gifts enabled our website presence, vocation outreach and program promotion through social media. Your gifts made possible our Providence Associate Relationship, our volunteer and intern programs; supported our newer members and our vocation discernment weekends. Your gifts helped in maintaining our buildings and grounds, our roadways and sidewalks, which in turn enable us to share the gift of these Woods, where all are welcome. Total number of donors ,324 We are grateful for your faithfulness and generosity. Special thanks to our 876 first-time donors and those 1,716 who have been able to share more. Consecutive year donors We give a big shout out to the 287 donors who have blessed us with gifts in consecutive years, ranging from 10 years all the way up to 30 years and counting! Alumnae/i giving A special thank you to all the alumnae/i of our former elementary and secondary schools for your dedicated giving. We are deeply moved by your continued support of our mission and of the sisters who influenced your life so many years ago. Whether you send your gift through your alumnae association or make a personal gift (or both), your kindness makes a difference! We may not see you every day as we once did, but you continue to be an important part of our community. Your financial support and prayers continue to help us create a more just and hope-filled world. You will always be a valued member of our Providence family. Total development income $3,886,815 Church capital campaign - $244,815 Gifts continued to come in to restore the Church of the Immaculate Conception bell tower and complete related projects. Special projects - $80,140 Donations were applied to outdoor signage; St. Michael statue landscaping; Mission in Asia; and construction of a small house as a residence for sisters. Advancing the mission fund - $2,213,682 Gifts enabled us to be the face of Providence to those in need through our various programs and ministries of Saint Mother Theodore Guerin Shrine Special projects Retirement Ministry support Grant income service, prayer and presence. Gifts to support White Violet Center for Eco-Justice are directed here and further our ministry of caring for all creation. Ministry support - $305,280 This amount included an anonymous gift given annually and occasional gifts to a restricted ministry fund established in Retirement fund - $984,746 Gifts assisted us in the care of our sisters who are retired or infirmed. Included in this fund is our share of the diocesan annual collections from the National Religious Retirement Office (NRRO) of $452,733. Saint Mother Theodore Guerin Shrine funds - $22,675 Gifts continue to be made in support of the care and maintenance of the shrine. Grant income - $7,000 This included NRRO Personal Development grant and a grant to support an Activities program for the retired sisters. Other - $28,477 This amount includes gifts-in-kind; parish mission appeals; activities, e.g., Earth Day and Hootenanny; and annuity income. SP Community Support Trust (SPCST) $6,700,385 Income from the retirement fund established to pay monthly support benefits to SPs reaching age 70 and older and/or who are disabled. Social Security and other retirement benefits $2,342,819 Social Security benefits for eligible SPs. Contributions and grants Investments and other income Investments and other income $4,831,106 Investment income: interest and dividends generated from assets held to support the Congregation s general operations. Other income: farmland revenue, White Violet Center for Eco-Justice programs, use of residence buildings; Providence Spirituality & Conference Center programs, facilities rental and Linden Leaf Gifts. Contributions and grants $3,886,815 The majority of these funds are received from donors through the activities of the Mission Advancement office. Sisters earnings SP Community Support Trust Congregation total expenses $20,434,394 Living expenses (sisters under age 70) $2,827,153 Include rent, utilities, food, clothing, medical, transportation, recreation, communication, personal supplies, annual retreat, and professional development, religious and educational activities. Living expenses (sisters age 70 and older) $8,095,589 Include those expenses listed above plus health-care related expenses such as nursing care, physical and occupational therapy, outpatient services and prescriptions for sisters residing in health care facilities. Outreach/programs/administration $8,365,458 Costs for sponsored programs and ministries, e.g., New Membership, Providence Associate Relationship, Providence Spirituality & Conference Center, SP Volunteer Services, White Violet Center for Eco-Justice, poverty/justice funding and ministry funds; general administration and department staffs, Congregation meetings & committees.
