1 The Inauguration of James P. Long, Ph.D. As Third of The Cincinnati Technical College May Eleventh Nineteen Hundred and Ninety Cincinnati Technical College Gymnasium
2 James P. Long, Ph.D. Dr. James P. Long assumed office as the third president of Cincinnati Technical College on January 1, Before coming to Cincinnati Dr. Long was dean of the Community and Technical College of the University of Akron. In that position he provided leadership to the second largest college of this urban, state-related university enrolling 30,000 students. At Akron Dr. Long was successful in increasing enrollments, initiating new degree programs and operating the college more efficiently. Prior to his tenure at Akron, Dr. Long was senior research specialist at The Ohio State University's National Center for Research in Technical Education. He served there for six years as director of the two-year college program and leader of the National Alliance of Community and Technical Colleges. Having earned a doctorate in mathematics from the University of Pittsburgh, Dr. Long taught mathematics at the four-year college level for ten years. His interest in computers enabled him to direct a number of research and development projects related to microcomputers and software development. From 1972 until 1981, Dr. Long held administrative positions as dean, vice president and acting president at two different colleges: the College of Steubenville, a private four-year liberal arts college, and Muskingum Area Technical College, a public technical college. These positions provided him with experience in program planning and review, personnel development and evaluation, strategic planning, budget development, and higher education administration. Dr. Long is author of seventeen publications in technical education and four publications in mathematics. He has made presentations or given seminars in nearly every state in the union as well as in Canada and Japan. Dr. Long is a native of Johnstown, Pennsylvania.

7 America The Beautiful 0 beautiful for spacious skies/for amber waves of grain. For purple mountain majesties/above the fruited plain. America! America! God shed His grace on thee, and crown thy good with brotherhood from sea to shining sea. 0 beautiful for patriot dream/that sees beyond the years. Thine alabaster cities gleam/undimmed by human tears. America! America! God shed His grace on thee, and crown thy good with brotherhood from sea to shining sea.
