6 Hayward Field Facility History At the heart of Eugene s successful bids for the 2021 IAAF World Championships, the 2008, 2012 and 2016 U.S. Olympic Team Trials and the 2010, and and NCAA Division I Men s and Women s Outdoor Track & Field Championships, Hayward Field is one of the nation s most impressive track and field venues. And there is no place on earth like Track Town USA. The NCAA Championships have extended the historic venue s legacy of magical performances, heart-stopping moments and records. In 2010, an NCAA record 45,847 spectators packed the stands to witness the drama, joy and tears. Named for Bill Hayward, who coached the University of Oregon s men s team from , Hayward Field was initially constructed for football in Two years later, a six-lane cinder track was installed and track events were transferred from Kincaid Field on the opposite edge of campus. Hayward Field s iconic east grandstand was constructed in Many of the sport s most decorated athletes have experienced the thrill of shaking hands with the faithful fans of the east grandstand on a victory lap. With the construction of Autzen Stadium in 1967, Hayward Field became dedicated solely to the sport of track and field. The University updated the venerable facility in 2007 with an $8.0 million renovation that installed stadium lighting, a state-of-the-art video board, and a new infield. The track was last resurfaced during the summer of Hayward Field Facility Specifications Synthetic Surface: Beynon Sports Surface BSS-2000 Track Geometry: 400m oval; m radius; 8 lane oval; steeplechase water jump inside track Long Jump West Runway East Runway Runway Length Runway Width 4 4 Board to Pit 9 9 Landing Pit Length Landing Pit Width Triple Jump-Men West Runway East Runway Runway Length Runway Width 4 4 Board to Pit Landing Pit Length Landing Pit Width Triple Jump-Women West Runway East Runway Runway Length Runway Width 4 4 Board to Pit Landing Pit Length Landing Pit Width Pole Vault West Runway East Runway Runway Length Runway Width 4 4 High Jump Runway approaches north to south Both Aprons 85 4 Javelin Runway Length Runway Width 13 5

Awards Presentation Process See Next Page 17

19 Awards Presentations Awards In our ongoing efforts to improve the student-athlete experience in all areas of this championship, we are slightly updating last year s exciting format for the presentation of awards for We believe these small changes in format will provide better recognition of all student-athletes, will enhance the awards experience and will allow for all student-athletes to receive their moment on the awards podium. Awards for Wednesday and Thursday Finals The Wednesday and Thursday individual awards presentations will be in-venue and during the competition. Awards will be presented on the field of play, immediately following the event. With no more than seven awards on each of these days, we will celebrate these student-athletes in-stadium. Awards for Friday and Saturday Finals Given the high number of award ceremonies on Friday and Saturday, the individual awards presentations will continue to occur after the completion of the last event on each of these two days. The individual awards will begin immediately after competition, with all awards ceremonies to be completed within one hour of the end of competition. The NCAA committee believes this allows for a more fluid and professional presentation of the awards on the final two days of competition. In previous Outdoor Track & Field Championships, it has been difficult to fit in the presentation of individual awards during the competition on Friday and Saturday. Awards ceremonies are sometimes rushed and often overshadowed by events on the field of play. Many of the student-athletes are unable to receive proper recognition on the awards podium because they are competing in another event. And when a protest delays the presentation of their award ceremony, student-athletes must wait in the awards area until the protest has been resolved. In moving these awards to post competition on Friday and Saturday, it is our hope that all student-athletes will be able to properly take their place upon the awards stage and receive their well-deserved recognition and photo opportunity. Additionally, this change allows all the attention during the championships to be focused on the competition. An outstanding attempt in a field event will not be missed because the in-stadium announcing team is in the middle of an awards presentation. This change will also assist in keeping the competition both on schedule and as the central focus of the fans and coaches. All fans, coaches, and student-athletes will be invited to participate and attend the awards ceremonies in stadium. Additionally, NCAA partner, Pizza Hut, will be adding to the awards experience. During the Friday and Saturday awards ceremony, Pizza Hut will provide free pizza for those that attend the awards ceremony. The official team awards presentations (1st 4th place) will also take place post-competition in the same location. Please note, the national champion team will be honored for inclusion in the ESPN television broadcast. All coaches and student-athletes are highly encouraged and asked to support the student-athletes by attending and participating in the Friday and Saturday postcompetition presentations. In the case of severe weather, the awards ceremonies will be moved to Matthew Knight Arena. 18

30 Team Pass Lists In order to better accommodate institutions with larger pass lists, teams that request 25 or more tickets on any one day will be required to staff an institutional ticketing table (much like team sports) for a 2 hour and 45 minute period each day of competition. For example, if an institution requests 18 tickets on day one, 22 tickets on day two, 28 tickets on day three and 28 tickets on day four, they will be required to provide staffing at the ticketing table for all four days during the outlined 2 hour and 45 minute window noted below. This will provide a contact from the institution to answer any questions immediately and will reduce the amount of time all individuals on pass lists will need to wait in line. The 25 guest total is for men's and women's team guests combined. Separate lists submitted for each gender will be counted as one list for the school, i.e. 12 men's guest and 15 women's guests is 27 - and the table must be staffed by a team representative. These teams will be set up adjacent to the ticketing office on the northwest side of Hayward Field. The idea is that this will provide a more fluid and efficient process for those larger schools that have heavy pass list requests, thus allowing fans to more quickly enter the venue. The block of time that each of these institutions will be required to provide staffing at a ticketing table is as follows: Wednesday, June 6: 3:30-6:15 p.m. PT Thursday, June 7: 3:00-5:45 p.m. PT Friday, June 8: 4:30-7:15 p.m. PT Saturday, June 9: 2:30-5:15 p.m. PT Teams with less than 25 ticket requests on all days, will NOT need to provide any staffing for pass list ticket pick-up. Those teams will still be able to send their pass list holders to the normal ticket office location in the Bowerman Building located on the northwest corner of Hayward Field. Those institutions wishing to submit a pass list will be required to submit their full list on the 2018 NCAA Track & Field Outdoor Championships Pass List Form provided on the following pages by no later than Friday, June 1 at 12:00pm PST. This will be the only format that will be accepted for team pass lists. Late forms will not be accepted, name changes will not be accepted, and late additions to the list will not be accepted. Your institution will be billed for every name on the pass list - no matter if they attend or not. If specific days are not designated, they will be assigned a ticket for every day. If you have any questions regarding the pass list, please contact Jeff Stewart at jeffreys@uoregon.edu. 29
