2 Our Mission Statement The mission of the California Association of Sanitation Agencies is to provide leadership, advocacy and information to our members, legislators, and the public, and to promote partnerships on clean water and beneficial reuse issues that protect public health and the environment. President s Message Dear CASA Members: I look forward to welcoming you to the CASA Spring Conference scheduled for April 23-26, 2008 at the Resort at Squaw Creek in Lake Tahoe. In keeping with our newly revised mission the conference program offers educational sessions on the latest information about clean water and beneficial reuse issues that protects both public health and the environment. To ensure attendees who are either governing officials or professional staff we are prepared a comprehensive program which includes: Pamela Creedon, Executive Officer, Central Valley Regional Water Quality Control Board discussing salinity management strategies; Technical forums addressing sustainability opportunities such as the use of solar energy, various biosolid treatment issues and their impact on the carbon footprint and stormwater management; Directors and Managers meetings featuring tool box talks on the latest electronic technology that will help us communicate efficiently in the workplace; Current state and federal legislative activities, regulatory and legal affairs updates presented by CASA s panel of experts; Dr. Sally Brown, Director of Soils Laboratory, Ecosystem Sciences Division of the University of Washington will be a speaker at the Land Issues Forum. The conference will be opened at Thursday s luncheon where delegates will be briefed on current activities of the Executive Board and the Association. As always, Saturday s closing session will feature reports about our core programs followed by committee action reports. The CASA Council will also be presented with a number of items for discussion at this session. Join us in Lake Tahoe for the CASA Spring Conference. CASA is the leading voice of the wastewater community in California as well as in Washington DC. For this conference, dress is casual and our goal is to encourage dialogue with our presenters and within our membership on all of the issues facing the public wastewater agencies. In addition to the guestroom and tax is a required resort fee of $15 for a total for one night stay of $ The resort fee eliminates many small charges and covers the following services during your stay: wireless internet access, USA Today paper delivery Monday through Friday, baggage handling and storage, shuttle service to/ from the Olympic Village, in-room coffee service, first 30 minutes per call for telephone credit card/1-800 access fee, first 30 minutes per call for local phone calls, incoming faxes, unlimited use of the Health Club Facilities, and self-parking. Cut-Off Date for Hotel Reservations is March 23, 2008 Check-in: 4:00 p.m. and Check-out: 11:00 a.m. Hotel Cancellation Policy: Individuals may cancel reservations up to 7 days prior to arrival with no penalty. All Deposits are non-refundable. The equivalent of one night s lodging will be billed to the individual s credit card for each guest who does not arrive or if a reservation is canceled less than 7 days prior to arrival. A guest who departs prior to their confirmed departure date will be charged for the unused balance of their stay. Any member canceling a reservation is asked to contact Debbie at the CASA office before contacting the hotel, so that she can arrange to re-assign the reservation to another member on the waiting list. CASA s Late Cancellation Policy: CASA initiated a Late Cancellation Policy because of the large number of cancellations in the final days approaching each conference. Our contractual obligations with the hotel hold the Association liable if we do not meet our room guarantees. CASA s Late Cancellation Policy is noted on the bottom of the registration form. If you cannot attend, send a colleague in your place by notifying the CASA office. The late fee for canceling on or before April 12 is $25: No refund after April 12.
