1 RAIDERS Alpharetta High School Daily Announcements Tuesday, August 22, 2017 POST DAILY ANNOUNCEMENTS IN CLASSROOMS. CONGRATULATIONS Alpharetta Raiders Softball took Thursday's game in dramatic fashion, with a 7-6 walk-off victory over Chattahoochee. The Raiders trailed 6-5 in the bottom of the seventh inning when Brittany Walleyn singled off of Sam Richards, driving in two runs. Megan McCullough and Tori Bottini each collected multiple hits. The Raiders were sure-handed and didn't commit a single error. Katelyn Wilson made the most plays with five. The Raiders cross country team opened their season by travelling to Douglasville for the Zack Wansley Invitational. The boys varsity ran well taking home the second place trophy competing against 11 teams. With nearly 100 runners in the race, including a couple of the top runners in the state, Robert Chappell ran away from the field in the final mile of the race to capture first place overall. Robert's time was a personal best and was just 2 seconds off the school record. Sean Rager ran well and placed 5th overall. Jason Song was 10th and Arat Joanico was 13th. Varun Kasibhatla was the Raiders final scorer placing 25th as continues to round into shape. The girls varsity also ran well, finishing as the third place team in the girls competition. The trio of Margaret Brehm, Alicia Johnson and Lamis Al-Wanzani ran most of the race together with Margaret finishing 8th overall, Alicia was 10th and Lamis 11th. Freshmen Avery Rose was close behind the Raiders top 3 girls finishing 16th. Lauren Nash rounded out the scoring in 19th place. The JV girls team finished second with Emma Fairlie leading the way with an outstanding kick to finish second overall in the JV girls race. Jules Mead was the next Raider to finish in 12th place and Amelia Valdez was 14th. The JV Boys finished fourth with freshmen Nate Jarrow as the top finisher, finishing 10th in the JV boys race. Nate was followed by Abayomi Woolheater in 19th and Connor Hulsman in 21st. This Saturday the Raiders travel to Lambert where they will face some of the top teams in the state. The Alpharetta Raiders played their first football game this last Friday. The Raiders competed hard and gave a great effort. The Raiders were led by Dylan Schorr and his 3 field goals, with a long of 44 yards. Players of the game were: Offensive player of the game - Michael Marbaugh with 5 catches for 56 yards Defensive player of the game - Nick Markus with 5.5 tackles and.5 a sack Special teams player of the game - Dylan Schorr with 3 field goals. Come out and support the Raiders in their first home game as they take on Gainseville this Friday

2 GENERAL INFORMATION ATTENTION SENIORS: Alpharetta High School will offer eligible seniors the option to leave and reenter the school campus on designated days for an extended lunch period during Anchor Time as both recognition for your demonstrated maturity and responsibility as well as an incentive to keep up the good work throughout your senior year. The permission form was ed home to your parents and hard copies are in suite All signed forms are due by Friday, August 25 to suite 1330! Underclassmen Picture Day is this Thursday, August 24th! ALL students, including seniors, who want or need a Student ID should be photographed on Thursday by Cady Studios. Retakes are scheduled for Thursday, October 12th. The Media Center will be closed all day on Tuesday 8/22, Wednesday 8/23, Thursday 8/24, and Friday 8/25 for Surface distribution. Please plan accordingly Calling all artists! If you're a photographer, filmmaker, visual artist, writer, dancer or musician, we want YOU to enter this year's Reflections Art Contest sponsored by the PTA. The theme this year is "WITHIN REACH", so explore your talents and express yourself. Please visit the media center for entry packets and more information. ATHLETICS, CLUBS & ORGANIZATIONS FCCLA- Family Career Community Leaders of America will be hosting our kick off meeting this Thursday after school in the culinary classroom at 3:45 pm. Cookies will be served. New members welcome. FBLA, the Future Business Leaders of America, will be having its first meeting this Thursday at 7:45 AM in the Auditorium. Please join us to learn about what s in store this year for our dynamic business organization. We hope to see everyone there and as always, doughnuts will be served. French Club will be holding their first meeting this Tuesday at 7:45 in Mme Rozei's room, All students are welcome to join, and croissants will be served! Attention Juniors and Seniors. If you are interested in applying to be a member of the National Honor Society here at AHS, applications are available outside of room Before picking one up, please know that you must have: 1) a CNA of a 92% or higher 2) held at least TWO leadership positions 3) 35 service hours for juniors and 45 service hours for seniors All completed applications are due September 5 th by 3:30. 3 There will be a Girls Basketball meeting on Wednesday, August 23 rd at 4:00 pm in the Girls Locker Room. All athletes need to bring a copy of their physical. Any students interested in Science Olympiad, please join us Friday, August 25 th, at 7:45 am in Room We will be discussing the upcoming year. If you cannot make the morning meeting, please plan to attend the afternoon meeting, which will be held immediately after school in room This applies to all veteran members and members who would like to join. If you are interested but haven t participated in the past, please plan to see Mrs. Molugoori at some point in the next week. She can be found in Room We hope to see you there! Do you love to sing? Then sign up to audition for Alpharetta s premier competitive a cappella groups, Momentum and Hype. Auditions are afterschool on Tuesday, August 22 nd and Wednesday, August 23 rd. Sign-ups and audition instructions are located outside the chorus room door, fine arts building room Clubs & Teams: If you have posters you want hung around the school, please drop them off to Mr. Bolin in room 3316 for approval. Keep in mind, you MUST sign up two school days prior to the visit and you are responsible for making up any missed assignments.
