2 CHRISTMAS CARD BOX As in past years, there will be a box at the Welcome Center for residents to put their Christmas cards for fellow Covites. Please check the box periodically. This box will be in place until early January. This is a reminder for all Cove residents: BURNING IN THE COVE Residents we are in a critically dry period. Please be careful when burning. DON'T LEAVE YOUR FIRE UNTIL IT IS COMPLETELY OUT AND COLD REGARDLESS OF THE TIME OF DAY!!!!!!! This applies to building contractors as well as private home owners! BOX TOPS FOR EDUCATION Since this program started in 1996, and through 2011, schools have earned over $200,000,000. Individual schools can earn up to $60,000. Box Tops for Education are on over 100 products that we use daily. Some of the products are Kleenex, Scott Tissue, Cheerios and Ziplock bags just to name a few. A complete list can be found on the Website Box Tops for Education. I collect the box tops for Burks Elementary School. Anyone who would like to help me collect the box tops can leave them at the Welcome Center. Thank you Debbie Melgar USE OF COVE ASSETS AND EQUIPMENT Cove Assets and equipment are for official Cove use only. Chain saws, weed eaters, the tractor, the truck, and any equipment used by committees are for their official use only. Individuals may NOT borrow the equipment for personal use. Equipment at the POA office including chairs and tables can only be used on premises...they cannot be loaned for off-site use, per the current WC Usage Agreement. The Chipper use is administered by Firewise, and is available for use by those who have taken the required training. 2

4 DECEMBER ACTIVITIES FOR RESIDENTS (Welcome Center unless otherwise indicated) ACTIVITIES COMMITTEE Eighty six people enjoyed a delicious Thanksgiving feast at the Welcome Center on November 20 th. Ten lucky winners of the door prizes took home the centerpieces. Thank you to all the cooks, decorators, servers, and everyone who helped clean up. Thank you to everyone who came out to make this event a success. Your additions to the feast and your camaraderie made the day! Mark your calendars! Come to the Welcome Center on December 18 th between 3:00 PM and 6:00 PM for the Winter Wonderland Open House. Nothing to bring, but yourself and good cheer. Finger Foods, soft drinks, beer and wine will be provided by the Activities Committee. Wanda Doris tenngrammers@aol.com BUNCO Bunco will be played on December 8 th only (normally second and fourth Thursdays), at 1:00 PM at the Welcome Center. Bunco is an easy dice game to master and a great place to meet your neighbors. Newcomers are also welcome. Hope to see you there! CHICKEN FOOT DOMINOES We will be playing Chicken Foot Dominoes on Thursday December 1 st. Chicken Foot Dominoes is played on the first Thursday of the month at 10:00 AM at the Welcome Center. This is a simple game, and easy to learn. Everyone is welcome. If you are interested, contact Judy Webster at

5 CUMBERLAND COVE ARTS AND CRAFTS SHOW Date: December 3, 2016 Time: 9:00 AM 3:00 PM Place: Cumberland Cove Welcome Center Join us in supporting the Cumberland Cove artists, crafters, quilters and more. Our residents will offer jewelry, woodworking, paintings, photography, sewing, quilt art, gourd art, home baked goods and more. Purchase your holiday gifts from products made and crafted in the USA by your neighbors and friends. Complimentary coffee or hot tea. Open to the Public for shopping. 7 CUMBERLAND COVE BOOK CLUB The book club will meet this month on Tuesday, December 20 th, at 10:00 AM. Our December meeting is a sharing of books, articles, TV programs etc. The Book Club meets monthly (except January) on the third Tuesday, and is open to all. Please call Valerie Sizemore at for more information. DINING OUT BUNCH The Dining Out Bunch meets the third week of every month. The restaurant choice, day of the week and time are chosen by the host and/or hostess for that particular month. Everyone is welcome! It can be lunch, a late lunch or dinner. The decision is made by the host based on restaurant capability. If you would like to be added to the mailing list for this function, please Martha and Tim Schmidt (schmidt-t@hotmail.com) so that they can send you monthly information. There will be no Dining Out Bunch in December. Come join us in January for our annual Soup Supper. EXERCISE CLASSES Come join the exercise classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:00 AM to 9:00 AM at the Welcome Center. Classes will be taught by Rachel Randolph. Cost will be $5.00 per class payable at the time of the class to the instructor. No money will be collected at the Welcome Center. PLATEAU SASSY STITCHERS The Plateau Sassy Stitchers will meet on the 2 nd and 4 th Mondays of the month, December 12 th and 26 th, at 9:00 AM in the Welcome Center.
