2 Greetings, fellow Unionite! Take a moment to think back to your college career. What comes to mind? Was it the late nights spent with your roommates? Was it the people who partnered with you in a student organization? Perhaps it was a faculty or staff member who had a lasting impact on your life. Whether your memory was on the old campus or the new campus in the old dorms or the new campus apartments the memories all revolve around the same place: Union University. This year, don t let those memories linger in your mind. Come back and relive them all with the people who made a difference in your life. Celebrate all that God has done through our alma mater. Join us for Homecoming 2011 Student Events Monday, October 31 Union Costume Coffeehouse 8:00 p.m. Bowld student Commons The Union Costume Coffeehouse is our traditional Homecoming week kick off for students. The Bowld will be filled with students dressed in incredibly creative (and family friendly) costumes while enjoying cotton candy, caramel apples, Barefoots Joe beverages and snacks. The karaoke machine will be ready to go to show off our Union talent. Tuesday, November 1 9th Annual Campus & Community: A Day of Remembrance & Service 8:30 a.m. G.M. Savage Memorial Chapel Each November, Union University sends out hundreds of students, faculty and staff to serve in the Jackson and West Tennessee community as we remember the generosity shown to our campus following the storms. This day of service allows the university to show appreciation to the community in tangible ways while recognizing God s ultimate provision for our campus. Enjoy this study break with lots of free snacks provided by the Student Government Association.

Savage Memorial Chapel Join us as we kick off the homecoming celebrations with a corporate worship service led by Lyle Larson, Senior Pastor of First Baptist Church, Goodlettsville. We will also be celebrating the lives of those who are returning to campus to celebrate their 50th class reunion. Mathematics Department Alumni Social 4:00 p.m. PAC adjacent to B-25 Were you a mathematics major or minor? Stop by the mathematics department s new student/faculty social area called The Union Intersection to visit, catch-up on the news and enjoy some refreshments. Union Night 5:30-7:30 p.m. The Great Lawn Bring your family to campus for an exciting night of events as we celebrate homecoming weekend at Union University. The Great Lawn will be packed with your favorite student organization vendors as well as schools and departments from across the university. Bring your lawn chair and enjoy good food and fellowship with classmates, professors and current students. There will be activities for all ages throughout the night from party inflatables and a rock climbing wall to live music and face painting. The night will end as the music fades and the sky over Miller Tower lights up with fireworks celebrating all that God has done these past 188 years at Union University. ReUnite with these Departments on the Great Lawn Sports Hall of Fame Inductees Dinner 6:00 p.m. Carl Grant Events Center Join us as we honor Union s finest sports legends. Cost is $15 per person. Savage Memorial Chapel Union University and the Student Activities Council welcome Jon Foreman in concert for Homecoming Jon Foreman is the co-founder and lead vocalist/guitarist of Switchfoot. Since originally forming in 1996, Switchfoot has sold more than 4.5 million albums and is known as a band committed to bringing attention to those in need. To do so, the band has partnered with such organizations as Habitat for Humanity, the ONE Campaign, To Write Love on Her Arms and the John M. Perkins Foundation. Since 2008, Foreman has released four solo EPs that showcase his talent in songwriting and acoustic performance. He also began collaborations with Nickel Creek s Sean Watkins and formed the duo known as Fiction Family. UU tickets $5, General $10, Door $15. Tickets will be available Oct. 3 on campus to Union students, faculty, staff and alumni, as well as to the public online at uu.edu/events/homecomingconcert. Biology Come and hang out in the biology lounge and meet with your favorite members of the faculty. Join us for a cup of coffee and conversation and take a look at some of the interesting animals that we ll have on display. Continuing Studies The Department of Continuing Studies invites you to go a little nutty during Homecoming Drop by and enjoy a warm fire, fresh roasted peanuts and bottled water while reconnecting with faculty, staff, students and friends. Celebrate both of those life-changing experiences with the School of Education. Get warm with a cup of coffee while you talk with your professors and classmates. Bulldogs vs. Belhaven University (Miss.) 4: 00 p.m. Fred DeLay Gy m During halftime of the men s game, the Presidential Homecoming Cup will be awarded to the student organization that has demonstrated outstanding service to the community. The winner receives the Cup and $500, which is divided between their organization and their charity of choice.
