Download an application at chaskacommunitycenter.com SEPTEMBER P H O T O G R A P H Y B Y James Flynn James Flynn is a local photographer specializing in urban and rural landscapes, with a recent emphasis on riverbank regions. Over the course of my involvement with photography, I have explored the power of light to profoundly transform a scene, to give it the dramatic impact necessary to make it a compelling artistic expression. Photographic subjects ranging from architecture to a woodland landscape are fundamentally changed by the nearly infinite variations of light inherent in time of day, patterns of cloud cover and the individual character of the seasons; I believe that light, more than any other compositional element, is the spiritual essence of a photograph. I find this phenomena fascinating, and it is the mystery of this effect that has largely driven my photography. N OV E M B E R A R T W O R K B Y Anne Krocak O C TO B E R P H O T O G R A P H Y B Y Todd Jacobs The inspiration for me to do photography comes from the love of art. It is the interdependence of wildlife, humanity, and the environment I try to show in my work. Todd s love of photography started as a young child when he began using his first instamatic to take pictures of his family s many pets. He went on to contribute to his high school newspaper and yearbook. Technical study consists of two years of schooling at Hennepin Technical College. Todd s keen eye for lighting, colors and subject matter perspective are the driving forces behind his natural ability to capture these great photographs. Todd s primary focus revolves around landscapes and nature. His fascination with colors, shadows, and shapes empowers him to communicate an emotional connection through his photographs. He has traveled though the United States, the Caribbean and spent time in Africa (Kenya an Egypt). His collection includes images that reflect his love of, and concern for the earth and its relationship to our environment. 22 Chaska Parks and Recreation Department Anne Krocak a recent transplant to the Carver County community loves to create, share and teach art.
