Financial Planning Consultations A Wealth Management Advisor from the Teachers Insurance and Annuity Association College Retirement Equities Fund (TIAA-CREF) will be available at this year s Summer Council to provide individual counseling sessions for presidents and chancellors. The advisor will address financial and retirement planning issues concerning tax-deferred annuities, insurance, mutual funds, after-tax investing, new IRA products and estate planning concerns. If you have not scheduled your individual session prior to your arrival, you may stop by the TIAA-CREF table to make a reservation. Consultations may be scheduled Sunday through Tuesday during the times listed in this program. If you are interested in receiving a personalized retirement benefit illustration, please be prepared to provide your full name, date of birth, Social Security number, spouse s date of birth, and tentative age or date at which you expect to begin retirement. 21 general information Registration Fees n Summer Council (July 16 18) $595 Includes all meetings and social events Saturday, Sunday, Monday and Tuesday for presidents, chancellors, spouses, partners, other family members and personal guests. n Women Presidents and Chancellors Program (July 15) $75 Women presidents and chancellors attending the Women Presidents Program on Friday, July 15, pay the $75 registration for either that one event alone or in addition to the Summer Council registration fee. n Workshop for Presidents and Chancellors: Recognizing and Averting Legal Quagmires (July 16) $125 Presidents and chancellors attending the Legal Workshop on Saturday, July 16, pay the $125 registration for either that one event alone or in addition to the Summer Council registration fee. n Youth Program Registration $50 AASCU plans activities for children (age 6 or older) and young people during the morning hours on Sunday and Monday while their parents are in sessions. The registration fee covers charges associated with hiring supervisors and paying for breakfast, beverages and expenses incurred arranging the group morning outings. Advance registration is required and parents must submit a release form before young people may participate. Youth program participants will enjoy breakfast with their parents before departing for activities. Experience has taught us that in many instances, the young people do not eat unless they are with one of their parents. This causes problems when they are hungry and away from the property on outings. They will return about noon, in time to meet their parents at the close of the morning sessions. 22 general information Refunds for Group Meal Functions and Optional Activities Should you not be able to attend a meal function or activity you signed up for or requested be held for you, AASCU will attempt to resell the function or activity. We will make every effort to accommodate changes and last-minute requests; however, we cannot guarantee that we can resell your cancelled events. If we cannot find a new president, chancellor or spouse to purchase your function or activity, you will be charged the full price if you cancel the events after July 15. This policy applies even if the reservation was on the honor system (without payment yet to AASCU). Final invoices and refunds are mailed within 45 business days after the meeting. All refunds will be paid via check. Attire Resort Casual Attire. Casual and comfortable attire: slacks, shorts or skirts. You will want a jacket or sweater while in air-conditioned meeting rooms and while participating in activities, especially near the water or in the cool of the evening. Locals dress in layers, using hooded jackets if Seattle s notorious rain occurs (the rain is normally more of a misting than a downpour). 24 Delivering America s Promise AASCU s membership of more than 420 public colleges and universities are found throughout the United States and in Guam, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands. We range in size from 1,000 students to 44,000. We are found in the inner city, in suburbs, towns and cities, and in remote rural America.
