3 AROUND THE LEAGUE The Pac-12 Conference has three programs ranked in this week s NSCAA Top 25: Stanford (1), UCLA (6), Oregon State (18) Arizona (1-10-2, 1-3-1) The Wildcats got their first victory of the season on Friday when they shut out Oregon, 1-0. Junior defender Alex Smith hit a penalty kick in the 69th minute to put the Cats in the win column. Arizona s last victory was also a 1-0 shutout when it defeated Cal on Oct. 22, The Wildcats will face the Golden Bears again Friday night in Tucson. Arizona State (6-7-0, 2-3-0) The Sun Devils host No. 1 Stanford Friday for the NSCAA Game of the Week on the Fox Soccer Channel, where ASU will retire the jersey of former Sun Devil Stacey Tullock. Friday also marks ASU s annual Pink Out match for breast cancer awareness. California (9-3-2, 2-1-2) Goalkeeper Emily Kruger recorded a pair of shutouts last weekend against then-no. 3 UCLA and USC. The sophomore is the first keeper to hold the Bruins scoreless this season. The match ended in a 0-0 draw, but snapped Cal s six-game losing streak to the Bruins in addition to UCLA s seven-match winning streak. Colorado (3-8-2, 0-4-1) The Buffs endured another tough weekend in Pac-12 play, going winless on their Washington road trip. Colorado and USC are the two remaining Pac-12 teams without a league win this season. The Buffs host Oregon on Sunday after being swept in Arizona last weekend. Oregon (6-7-1, 1-4-0) Although the team did not play at its best last weekend, the Arizona road trip provided career bests for two Ducks freshmen: On Friday, forward Bri Pugh took a career-high seven shots, and on Sunday, Abby Steele tallied a career-high nine saves in goal. The young Ducklings could get another opportunity to shine this Sunday when they take on Colorado in Boulder. Oregon State (10-3-1, 4-1-0) The Beavers are coming off a weekend sweep in which they didn t allow a single goal. Oregon State has won six of its last seven games, with its only loss during that stretch coming from then-no. 3 UCLA. Up next for OSU is Utah, who was unbeaten in conference play until this past weekend. Stanford (13-0-1, 5-0-0) The No. 1 Cardinal gave head coach Paul Ratcliffe his 200th and 201st career coaching victories last weekend when Stanford topped USC and then-no. 3 UCLA. Ratcliffe has a record in his nine seasons with the Cardinal. He coached for five years at St. Mary s prior to his current position. UCLA (10-1-2, 3-1-1) The No. 6 Bruins dropped their first match of the season on Sunday in a 4-1 loss to Stanford. The last time UCLA lost a match it was to the Cardinal in the third round of the 2010 NCAA tournament. The Bruins look to bounce back Friday in Pullman in a showdown at Washington State. USC (3-11-0, 0-5-0) The Trojans are still in a rough patch marked by their current losing streak of eight games. They take on the Huskies Friday evening in their only match of the weekend with hopes of getting USC s first conference win. Utah (7-6-1, 3-2-0) The Utes Friday match against Oregon State will be the annual Power in Pink game. Now in its fourth year, Power in Pink is a campaign in which Utah Athletics teams up with the Hunstman Cancer Institute to help raise awareness of breast cancer and its causes, as well as early detection methods. Utah Women s Soccer will be the first team this year to host a Power in Pink game, followed by Utah Volleyball on Saturday. Washington (6-5-3, 2-2-1) The Huskies had a winning weekend in Seattle after sweeping Utah and Colorado, and will look to build their win streak versus USC on Friday... Former Husky goalkeeper Hope Solo is still alive on ABC s Dancing with the Stars, but needs fan support to stay on the show. Fans can vote for her online at abc.com. WOMEN S SOCCER SID S ARIZ...
