Kathleen from Movin & Groovin has become a big hit around the house. Her next appearance will be on Wednesday March 9, from 2:00-2:45, in the Lobby. There s something for everyone and it s very low impact. Get warmed up by moving your arms and legs and tap those toes to great music and singing. PUZZLES AND GAMES Looking forward to spring, residents have been doing their best to keep busy during the chilly months past. There is always a puzzle to be assembled, word games, giant crosswords and baking activities. BRING IDEAS! Is there a card game, craft, outing or any type of activity you d like to share? Bring it on! See Life Enrichment Director May Thomas and we ll add it to the calendar. ICE CREAM SUNDAE MONDAYS Back by popular demand! 6 7 IHR ARTICLE WORDS OF WISDOM 99 year old resident Jonathan Bishoff shares his advice for success in life with national honor students from Stevenson High School. He talked lovingly about his marriage and raising children. Below, Jonathan s wedding day photo with his beloved, Adina. We look forward to celebrating his 100th birthday in April! March 30 INSPIRATION FROM THE BOOK CLUB Book Club meets in the Chapel Wednesday and Friday mornings at 10 a.m. Reading mostly books of inspiration, attendees often share stories of life experiences, both happy and sad. Oftentimes, poems and short stories are brought in that really touch the heart. Here s a little sample: AGING YEARS The aging years weave wisdom, A tapestry of time, And younger lives regard you With respect and awe sublime. Age is a time of beauty, The tide of youth has fled And left upon the beaches The loving years ahead. For love with age increases, And precious are the hours, May peace and love surround you And crown you with life s flowers. ONE ON ONE VISITS There are a few residents in our community that for one reason or another don t come out regularly for activities and social events. Just know that I ll be coming to your room for a quick visit to see how you re doing. Look for One on One s appearing within the calendar. This will be my time to spend with those members of our community. -May, Life Enrichment Director TAKING CARE OF YOUR ACHING KNEES Knee pain is responsible for 1/3 of doctor visits for muscle and bone pain. Risk factors for knee problems can include history of arthritis, injuries, or decreasing muscle strength or activity levels. General symptoms may include pain, swelling or redness and joint stiffness. Treatments might involve conservative selfmanagement, medications, physical therapy intervention or surgical procedures. Physical therapists are trained to develop exercises for regaining your knee flexibility and strength and provide education on knee health and prevention.
