8 About Us About the LSU E. J Ourso College of Business Since our establishment in 1928, the E. J. Ourso College of Business has served as the flagship business college of Louisiana, playing an essential role in uplifting the economy of the state and the wellbeing of its citizens. Each year, the college graduates more than 1,000 exceptional individuals who are the business leaders and entrepreneurs of the future. The E. J. Ourso College has continuously improved and expanded its offerings for students and alumni. Most recently, the Professional Sales Institute was established and the college will soon launch its new Office of Business Student Success an initiative partly aimed at helping students land internships and post-graduate employment - and bachelor s degree in entrepreneurship. Additionally, we have made it a priority to provide our faculty with the resources it needs to further research in every aspect of the business world and to produce industry leaders for our global work environment. We partner with higher education institutions and corporate enterprises globally to ensure we are on the cutting edge of business education. This allows us to improve our students skills in communication, leadership, teamwork, and the technical aspects of their respective disciplines. Seven departments, five centers and institutes, and a number of research groups, programs, and initiatives comprise the units that encapsulate the offerings of the E. J. Ourso College of Business. Each of these units is committed to excellence in fostering learning and pursuing discovery in an intellectually diverse environment that prepares our students for rewarding lifelong careers. Our namesake, E. J. Ourso, once remarked that Every successful entrepreneur is, first of all, an impossible dreamer. As Louisiana s top college of business, our goal is to help make dreams come true. To learn more about the E. J. Ourso College of Business visit our website business.lsu.edu About Diversity and Inclusion The E. J. Ourso College of Business fully appreciates and adopts LSU s Flagship Agenda for diversity and inclusion. Ourso College emphasizes the recruitment and retention of diverse students, staff, and faculty and provides an environment free of intolerance or discrimination. Established in August 2010, Diversity and Inclusion helps ensure that the E. J. Ourso College reflects the diversity of its many students and that all individuals feel welcome and equal. Diversity and Inclusion staff host a number of student-focused events including workshops on topics like personal branding and social media, interview skills, and résumé reviews.
