1 Family October Weekend 2014
2 Dear Families and Friends, Fall is an exciting time on the Radford University campus, and we are eager for you to join us during our 2014 Family Weekend, October 10 th 12 th. It will be a great opportunity to experience where your student learns, lives and thrives; and to meet his or her professors and friends, and other RU families. Our faculty, staff and students are busy organizing activities that will showcase Radford s many educational, cultural and social opportunities, including open houses in each of the colleges to meet the faculty and tour our great facilities. You can enjoy dance and theatre performances by students and faculty members, explore the galaxy during our planetarium shows and see firsthand the tremendous creative talent of our student-artists. If you re feeling athletic you can cheer the Highlanders on to victory in volleyball and soccer, or enter the 5K Family Fun Run. I hope to have an opportunity to meet many of you personally at the Conversation with the President on Saturday morning at 10 o clock, in the auditorium of the Hurlburt Student Center, The Bonnie, which will also include a light breakfast reception. And, we haven t forgotten the four-legged members of your family. Make sure to register for Saturday afternoon s popular dog show. Lastly, please don t leave Sunday before enjoying the delicious brunch our chefs will prepare just for you, our special guests. And, if you missed the sale on Saturday, then stop by the RU Bookstore to stock up on Radford University gear. Information about these events and many others scheduled throughout the weekend is included in this booklet. Your family s support plays an important role in the success of your student at Radford University. We hope you will join us for this exciting and fun-filled weekend in October. With warm regards, Penelope W. Kyle President
