2 FROM THE DESK OF DR. SELIG It was another banner year for ODU Athletics and our 500 student-athletes. In the classroom last semester, ODU student-athletes recorded a cumulative GPA of We had 17 (36%) student-athletes achieve Dean s List honors (3.4 or higher) and 274 student-athletes attain a 3.0 or better (5%). Clearly, ODU student-athletes are winning in the classroom. We added some hardware to our trophy cases in 2017 with both Women s Golf and Men s Soccer taking home a Conference USA Championship. We are proud of our Men s Soccer Team and their advancement to the second round of the Division I Men s Soccer NCAA Championship. ODU Wrestling had three studentathletes earn All-American honors, and Baseball cracked the Top 25 for the first time since Virginia Tech visits us this year for a showdown in S.B. Ballard Stadium on September 22 nd. We all look forward to such a historic occasion in just our 10th season of football! It was a record setting fundraising year in 2017, raising $12M in new gifts and pledges, a 50% increase over 2016! The continued success of ODU Athletics is possible thanks to the support of our donors, alumni, fans and community members, such as yourself. As we look to 201, I challenge you to invite others to join you in your support of ODU Athletics and the ODAF. On behalf of our 500 student-athletes and staff, I thank you in advance for your support. Because of you, we create winners in the classroom, in athletic competition, and in life. GO S! Currently, ODU Athletics ambitious aspirations exceed our current level of funding. For ODU Athletics to continue on our rise to national prominence, this athletics initiative is critical. A: Parking is allocated based on your 201 ODAF membership level and then by priority points within each level. Please submit your parking request at before May 1st. Q: If I meet the projected donation level, am I guaranteed a space in my requested lot? A: Unfortunately, there is no guarantee that the projected gift amount will equate to a spot in that parking area. In order to make sure you are happy with your assigned spot, the ODAF suggests that each member utilizes all three options on the parking request form. Q: If I park with a group, how are we allocated? A: In an effort to be fair to our membership, parking will be allocated based on the donor with the lowest membership level. Q: If I do not want to tailgate, but would like to receive a garage parking pass, can I do so? A: Yes, members at the $2,000 donation level and above can forgo their tailgate benefit and request a pass. Members below the $2,000 donation level can request a Yellow pass. Q: If I have more than 4 tickets, can I purchase an additional parking pass? A: Yes. If an individual is at the $5,000 donation level or above they can purchase one additional pass for $100. If an individual is below the $5,000 donation level they can purchase one additional Yellow pass for $50. Q: Do I have to have my pledge paid in full to receive my parking pass for the 201 season? A: ODU Football parking is allocated based on your 201 ODAF Membership level. To receive your parking pass you must have either paid your pledge in full or set up a payment plan prior to August 1st. 13

10 GENERAL FAQ S Q: What does my ODAF donation support? A: Your annual contribution helps to provide the resources necessary for ODU student-athletes to compete for championships at the Division I level. Contributions to the ODAF can also fund scholarship endowments and capital projects, such as facility enhancements. Q: Is my donation to the ODAF tax-deductible? A: The new tax reform law states that any donation that results in the right to purchase tickets for seating at an athletic event is 0% tax deductible. Please consult with your tax advisor regarding the tax deductibility of your gift to the ODAF. Q: Are my ticket and parking locations affected by my ODAF Membership level? A: Yes. Seat and parking location is allocated based on your ODAF Membership and ODAF Priority Points. For more information, please reference the ticket and parking pages (page 10 through 15). Q: My company offers a matching gift plan; can I apply this to my ODAF Membership? A: Yes, the ODAF accepts matching gifts for membership. Please contact your company s benefits specialist for more information. Q: What are other ways to accumulate priority points? A: Other ways to accumulate priority points include joining the 110% club, referring a new member through the Power of the Pride program, sport specific giving or becoming a Monarch Legacy Society member. Q: Is there any way I can lose my priority points? A: To be an active ODAF member, you must make a current year gift. Points related to cumulative giving, purchasing season tickets and bonus points received through the 110% Club or Power of the Pride will never be lost. However, points previously gained through consecutive years of giving to the ODAF or purchasing season tickets will be lost if there is a lapse in giving to the ODAF or purchasing season tickets. Q: Can my priority points be transferred to someone else? A: All priority points related to giving and tickets can only be transferred to a spouse. No other immediate family members, friends, or other entities can receive a transfer of priority points. Q: I m not interested in season tickets, but I still want to help; why should I donate to the ODAF? A: For those who cannot make it to an athletic event, you can show your Monarch pride by making a contribution to the ODAF. By making a contribution, you help to provide ODU Athletics with additional resources. These additional resources give us a competitive advantage and help to ensure the success of ODU Athletics. In addition, your philanthropic donation is tax deductible. Q: Can I make a donation from a Donor Advised Fund (DAF), Private Foundation or IRA Distribution? A: Yes.
