Baseball's already begun. Buds are blooming in vibrant hues everywhere you look. The weather is perfect for virtually any outdoor activity, which can only mean one thing: It's time to fire up the barbecue! May is National Barbecue Month. We look forward to the cookout our kitchen will prepare for us this month! Since May is a beautiful month to be outside we will be doing a lot of activities outside to really enjoy the beautiful grounds we have outside. It is easy to take for granted the beautiful landscaping we have at our community. I love to sit outside on the porch and listen to the birds chirp and the waterfall from the coy pond. Please take a minute and enjoy our grounds and invite your family to continued next page Exceptional Senior Living
2 Note from Erin, continued from front page visit with you on the porch as well. I want to thank Bayside Academy students for all the work they did to help us with our raised flower beds. We are so thankful to live in a community that is willing to serve us with their time and energy. I look forward to all the blooms we will have this summer. And speaking of blooms, we know that the blooms need rain and we have the best looking umbrellas in town!! I was so impressed with all the talent and the detailed design of our umbrellas in our umbrella fashion show. Community Snapshots Spring Into Fashion Show Our residents thought it would be fun to have a Fashion Show spotlighting our umbrellas that we painted, adorned with ribbons, jewels and sea shells. Toby Pearce with the Daphne Police Department was our emcee. Helpful Hands Always a joy to have children in our community, excitement, joy and crafts were all in the room with our visitors from Jubilee Baptist Preschool.

6 Music, Dancing, Happiness Family visiting, singing and dancing at our Friday socials always bring out the big smiles! Intergenerational Programs that connect the generations. A beautiful day planting with Bayside Academy on the service day. Millie Corcoran... 05/01 Santia Brenes... 05/15 Elaine Palmer... 05/23 Milly Cowles... 05/29 Judy Jackson... 05/31 Residents Spotlight... Meet Mrs. Helen Burruss, who became a part of the Brennity Family in July Originally born and raised just outside of the Canadian border in Columbus, North Dakota, she met her childhood sweetheart, Leslie King, at church. They were married for 43 years and had three wonderful children: Robert, Sharon, and Steve. One of Mrs. Burruss' greatest accomplishments were raising a family, being a Mom, Grandma, and Great-Grandma. She especially loved sewing for her daughter Sharon's children, since they were living in Bangladesh. In addition to being a wife and mother, Mrs. Burruss was very involved in helping her church and participating in the Topeka Bible Study group. Later in life, she met her second husband, George, who she was married to for 7 years. She has had the privilege to travel to Bangladesh twice, and to enjoy holidays with her family. Today, Mrs. Burruss enjoys winning at Bingo, working puzzles, and playing evening games. She is also very involved in our morning devotion and weekly Spiritual Reflections group. While living at The Brennity, Mrs. Burruss has made many new friends. She loves how everyone from residents to staff treats each other like family and looks out for one another. Her advice for others: 'To have God first in your life.' Meet Lois Smith, who has been here with us here at the Brennity at Daphne for almost one year. She enjoys going to church and spending time with family and friends. Mrs. Lois has truly been a blessing to our community and we are so honored to have her as a resident here at the Brennity at Daphne. She always has encouraging words and the best laughs and can't forget about the best hugs, that are always right on time if you're in need of a pick-me-up. Mrs. Lois fell in love with our new life skills station (The farmer s market). Mrs. Smith's father was a farmer as a child, so our farmer s market really is special to her in so many ways.
