1 2015 GISA All-Select Middle School Honor Chorus Schedule and Information Packet DATES: Friday, February 6, 2015 & Saturday, February 7, 2015 (See Schedule Below) LOCATION: King s Ridge Christian School 2765 Bethany Bend, Alpharetta, GA CLINICIAN: Dr. Patrick Freer Professor of Music, Georgia State University COST: Each student will pay a $55 Registration Fee (Includes music packet) T-SHIRTS/ RECORDINGS: T-shirts and Recordings will be available for purchase at the event SCHEDULE: *** See Page 3 *** Voicing (Please consider balance and send equal numbers as much as possible) The Middle School GISA All-Select Chorus will be three (3) part, mixed voicing and is open to students 5 th -8 th grade for a maximum of 90 singers. Consideration will be made in an effort to keep the Chorus in balance. Unchanged male voices should be nominated as either soprano or alto. VOICE PART NUMBER Soprano 30 Alto 30 Baritone 30 *In the event that there are not enough nominations to keep the desired balance, adjustments* *will be made throughout the Chorus in a concerted effort to establish blend.* Nomination Process 1. CLICK HERE to submit your Nomination ONLINE 2. Complete and Return the Signed Student s Participation Form 3. Complete and Return the Signed Director s Agreement The Director's Agreement MUST be signed and faxed in order for the students to be considered for acceptance. Please fill out the Participation Form in its entirety before faxing it in (this includes a parent signature as a binding contract to clear the calendar of any schedule conflicts of the student). Please judge the student on their singing and sight-reading abilities only. If there are any other special music needs or concerns you may have, please indicate those in the director's comments area on the form. We will try to choose at least three (3) students from each school, but we must make an effort to keep balance and blend.

2 When you've collected all Participation Forms (including the Director's Agreement), Please FAX to Kathy Kelly-George at (404) All nominations are due by Monday, December 15, Concert Attire Concert attire for Saturday's concert will be the following: BOYS Black Dress Pants Black Dress Shoes (w/ black socks) Black Belt Solid White Button-Up Shirt & Long Tie (shirt tucked in) GIRLS Black Dress Pants or Skirt that covers the knees when sitting Black Dress Shoes and Black Hose White Button-Up Top Director Responsibility Directors are REQUIRED to attend if they have students participating. We will need EVERYONE to assist with things throughout the weekend. Please do NOT send a parent or faculty member as your representative! Any Director failing to show will NOT be able to send students next year! This is a great opportunity to learn from clinicians, see your students succeed in a large group ensemble, and make connections with other choral directors in the area. We will provide a hospitality room for you to work and rest, but we also very much encourage you to be an active part of your students' experience here at the Middle School All-Select. Other Notes of Interest On Friday night, Papa John's Pizza will be provided for ALL students (included in the registration fee). We will also provide chips, drinks, and cookies. Concessions: King s Ridge will be selling concessions throughout the day. A list of those prices and food available will be sent out at a later date. HOTELS & RESTAURANTS: Please see attached information.

4 2015 GISA All-Select Middle School Honor Chorus Director's Agreement STUDENT RESPONSIBILITIES Students and parents should check their calendars and make sure there are not any conflicts prior to signing the Participation Agreement. Any student who is selected for the All-Select Performances must attend every rehearsal and performance. Students MUST notify the GISA Coordinator no less than one week before the performance if they are unable to attend. The Coordinator will then select a replacement based on alternates available. STUDENTS WHO FAIL TO FOLLOW THE PROCEDURE STATED ABOVE SHALL BE SUSPENDED FOR THE NEXT ALL-SELECT PERFORMANCES, NO EXCEPTIONS. All cases will be handled on a case by case basis, and students shall not be punished for unforeseen circumstances such as a death in the family or illness. The GISA Coordinator shall have the final say as to whether an excuse is accepted or not. DIRECTOR RESPONSIBILITES If submitting nominations electronically, Director certifies that parental participation form is signed and in hand. If a student does not attend, according to the attendance policy, the participating school will be suspended from GISA All-Select Events for the academic year. Every director who has a student in the All-Select Performances is EXPECTED to be present. Directors with students in more than one ensemble, (Chorus, Band, Orchestra) should bring a qualified assistant to support the additional ensemble. Any director who is not able to attend MUST send a qualified substitute in their place. This person does not have to be a certified teacher, but must have knowledge of chorus and be available to assist in rehearsal, if needed. IF A DIRECTOR FAILS TO MEET HIS/HER REQUIRED DUTIES, THEIR PRINCIPAL WILL BE NOTIFIED AND THE SCHOOL WILL BE BARRED FROM PARTICIPATING IN ALL-SELECT EVENTS FOR ONE CALENDAR YEAR.
