3 HOW THE FARE AND PASS CHANGES MAY IMPACT YOU: 1. Transfers will be discontinued on January 1, This means you will have to pay a fare for EACH ride, unless you have a Day Pass or a 30-Day Pass. These passes provide unlimited rides. 2. Students can now pay $0.50 CASH FARE for each ride with valid school ID. The Day Pass and 30-Day Pass will not be sold at half-fare. 3. Seniors (ages 65 and older) can now pay $0.50 CASH FARE for each ride ALL DAY with a valid Medicare card or CityLink Half-fare ID*. No longer will there be different fares for Seniors between PEAK and NON-PEAK times; and free rides for Seniors during NON-PEAK times have been eliminated. This new change is more convenient for Senior passengers, reduces confusion and opportunities for conflicts with operators. The Benefit Access RIDE FREE program is available for eligible Senior residents of Illinois. Contact the Central Illinois Agency on Aging at (309) for more information. 4. Disabled passengers will pay $0.50 CASH FARE for each ride with a valid Medicare card or CityLink Half-Fare ID*. The Day Pass and 30-Day Pass will not be sold at half-fare. The Benefit Access RIDE FREE program is available for eligible Disabled residents of Illinois. Contact the Central Illinois Agency on Aging at (309) for more information. 5. Veteran passengers will pay $0.50 CASH FARE for each ride with a valid CityLink Half-Fare ID*. The Day Pass and 30-Day Pass will not be sold at half-fare. If you are a Veteran experiencing financial hardship, please visit one of the many social service agencies in Peoria providing assistance for veterans. 6. Children, 54 inches or shorter, can now ride FREE with a paying adult. Children taller than 54 inches will have to pay the Student CASH FARE of $0.50 and they must present a valid school ID. Age is no longer used to determine eligibility. *For information on the Half-Fare ID program, visit the CityLink Special Services office which is located on the 2nd floor of the CityLink Transit Center. 5 Paratransit, Special Services, or Pekin Service Area Paratransit WHO IS ELIGIBLE? Any individual who has a physical or cognitive disability may be eligible for Special Services under the American s with Disabilities Act (ADA). All people must be approved through a special process. This Special Service is a safety net for those individuals who do not have the functional capability to use the fixed-route system. Disability alone does not qualify a person to ride. Service can only be scheduled within CityLink s service area. HOW DO I APPLY FOR SPECIAL SERVICE? Persons who seek Special Services must first obtain and complete an application. ADA application forms can be obtained by calling or Pekin residents Applications can also be accessed by visiting WHEELCHAIR ACCESSIBILITY CityLift vehicles are all wheelchair accessible. Guide animals can accompany their masters on the vehicles. HOURS OF OPERATION. Peoria area routes: 5:30 A.M. to 1:00 A.M. Monday through Friday 7:30 A.M. to 10:30 P.M. on Saturday; 7:30 A.M. to 7:30 P.M. on Sunday. Pekin Routes: 7:45 A.M. to 5:40 P.M. Monday through Friday. No Saturday service in Pekin. 6 Half-Fare For Veterans CityLink is pleased to offer a $0.50 cash fare to qualified U.S. veterans. (The new Day Pass and 30-Day Pass will not be sold at a discount.) To qualify, veterans must have a discharge status on the DD214 Form of: Honorable Discharge General Discharge (under honorable conditions) Other than Honorable Discharge (CityLink does not recognize uncharacterized discharge status.) Effective September 1, 2014 qualified veterans must present the CityLink Half-fare identification card to receive the Half-fare discount at the bus fare box. To receive the FREE CityLink Half-fare identification, qualified veterans must bring in the following documentation. Completed CityLink Special Services Half-fare ID Application (available at the Special Services Office on the 2nd Floor of the CityLink Transit Center). 7 You can bring a standard-size bike on the bus, but only if there s room in the bike rack located on the front of the bus. The racks can fill up quickly at rush hour so plan ahead. No bikes are allowed inside the bus. Types of Bikes Allowed on CityLink Only single-seat, two-wheeled bikes, are allowed on CityLink. Tandems and bikes with oversized wheels, three or more wheels, trailers or those powered by internal-combustion engines cannot be accommodated. Electric bikes with a sealed battery compartment are permitted, if they fit in the rack. Bikes with child seats, panniers or other accessories that block an operator s vision out the front of a bus are not allowed. How to Load Your Bike on the Bus Every CityLink bus is equipped with a bike rack on the front that can hold two bikes. Loading Make sure the bus stops completely and the driver acknowledges you before you step in front of the bus. Never approach a stopped bus from the street side, as you cannot safely determine when a driver is about to leave a stop. Squeeze the handle on the top of the rack and lower it. Place your bike in the rack and place the bar over your front wheel (as close to the frame as possible). Remove any loose items or valuables from your bike, including panniers, then board the bus and pay your fare. Unloading Exit through the front door and let the driver know that you have a bike to remove. Never step in front of the bus until you are sure the driver sees you. Remove your bike and fold up the rack if it is empty. Go to the nearest curbside. Never cross in front of the bus, as passing traffic cannot see you. Bikes and CityLink Lost & Found If you accidentally leave your bike on the bus, contact CityLink at (309) Sharing the Road Safely When buses and bikes share the road, it s even more important to practice safe driving and safe riding. Cyclists can help by following a few simple rules of the road. Riding around buses Don t pass on the right. Bus operators will signal when they change lanes, pull up to a stop or merge into traffic. CityLink buses make frequent stops; it is not safe to pass a bus on the right when it is loading or unloading passengers. Yield to merging buses. Buses must yield to bikes when pulling into a stop, but are allowed to cross or stop in bike lanes to serve stops. If the left rear blinker is flashing, the bus has the right-of-way to merge back into traffic, and you should let the bus back in. Make sure the operator can see you. Buses have blind spots: If you can t see the operator, either directly or in the mirror, the operator can t see you. The safest place to be around buses is in front of them. Wear easy-to-see clothing and always use lights when it s dark out. Watch for changing road conditions. Bike lanes may merge with mixed traffic at choke points. Use hand signals when merging or changing lanes. Take the middle of a travel lane if necessary. Please do not ride your bike through the lanes at the CityLink Transit Center at 407 SW Adams. When you arrive at the Transit Center, dismount your bike and walk your bike to the appropriate bus lane. PAGE 9

55 SERVICE AREA CountyLink service must begin or end in the rural part of the County; and is available in the following areas: Brimfield, Edelstein, Edwards, Elmwood, Glasford, Hanna City, Kickapoo, Kingston Mines, Laura, Mapleton, Oak Hill, Orchard Mines, Princeville, Smithville and Trivoli. Service is also available in limited geographical areas in Bartonville, Chillicothe, Dunlap, Mossville, Rome and Tuscarora. Please call CountyLink for details. The Greater Peoria Mass Transit District has entered into an Intergovernmental Agreement to oversee Rural Peoria County Public Transportation CountyLink grants activities. CountyLink operates a door-to-door service. There are no fixed routes or designated stops for getting on or off the vehicles. Customers are picked up at their home or another specified location and dropped off at a specified destination. Door-to-door service is provided for all passengers. Door-to-door service means the CountyLink driver will assure that any passenger will be picked up at their door and dropped off at the front door of their destination. The CountyLink driver is responsible for assisting the passenger to and from the vehicle. DAY AND HOURS OF SERVICE Reservations may be made from 8:00 a.m. 5:00 p.m., Monday - Friday Service hours are from 5:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Monday Friday, with the final pick up time no later than 5:00 p.m. Fares are $6.00 per one-way trip.
