4 St. Peter Parish From the Pastor s Desk CONGRATULATIONS to John Czajkowski, who was ordained (October 15 th ) by Cardinal Seán as a Permanent Deacon for the service of God s people! And, happily for us, the cardinal has appointed Deacon John to Saint Peter Parish. Welcome to John and his wife, Jenny!! John will serve as a Deacon this weekend at the Sunday 11:30 a.m. Mass and he will also preach. A reception in the Parish Center will follow the Mass. All are welcome! Cambridge, MA This coming week you will receive a letter from the parish asking for your donation to the 2016 Grand Annual Collection. This is an important collection for our parish. Our regular Offertory income does not provide the funds necessary to maintain our parish programs and the upkeep of our buildings and grounds. Thank you, in advance, for your customary generosity. 5 October 16, 2016 St. Peter School Open House Sunday, October 23, Noon-2:00 p.m. Our parish school is holding an Open House for Pre-K through Grade 8 on Sunday October 23rd from noon to 2:00 p.m. Hosted by Principal Andrew Malionek and Director of Admissions and Grade 5 Teacher Mark Smith, current parents and students. This is a great opportunity to tour the school and learn about the curriculum and after-care program. Current 7th & 8th grade students, accompanied by parents, lead the tours. Take this time to hear directly from the students about our excellent school. All are welcome to attend! For questions contact Mr. Smith at admissions@saint-peter.org or x26 Scripture Study The Gospel According to John Wednesdays, Beginning October 26, 7-8:30 p.m. Join us this year as we study The Gospel According to John and the Johannine Letters. The study will be split into two segments. The first part of the Gospel will be covered in 7 weeks in late Fall/Advent and the last 8 weeks will occur in Winter/Lent. No previous scripture study experience is needed all are truly welcome. We will use materials from the Little Rock Scripture Study program (a reader and a study guide) and a Bible. There is a reading assignment and reflection questions each week. We will spend our time together discussing Scripture, the discussion questions and listening to an audio lecture. The study will meet on Wednesdays, 7-8:30 p.m. in the Parish Center on October 26, November 9, 16 & 30, December 7, 14 & 21. Bereavement Support Group Begins October 24 at Mount Auburn Hospital Mount Auburn Hospital is offering bereavement support groups. The group will meet eight Monday evenings, 6-7:30 p.m. in the Clough Conference Room, 2nd floor, next to the cafeteria. The next group begins Monday, October 24.
