2 Things to know before you go on your Spiritual Pilgrimage with Our Lady of Hope Parish Happy Trails Tours or ( - happy_trails_tours@yahoo.com) Payment & Deadline Information: Enclose your deposit of $ per person with the registration form. Payment may be made by personal check or credit card to Happy Trails Tours. Deposits are fully refundable up to April 10, Final payment is due May 1, Monies returned from cancellations between May 1st and May 16, 2016 are contingent to what is refundable from charters, hotels, restaurants and tour company. No refunds with cancellations after May 16, Final Documents will arrive 3 weeks prior to departure (in late May). Travel Insurance: Travel Protection insurance is highly recommended. Please contact our office for more information on how you can financially protect this tour should a personal cancellation occur. Minimum Requirements to Guarantee this Departure: This tour needs a minimum of 40 travelers for the rates listed. How to Pack and Luggage: Pack light... Bring casual clothing, comfortable shoes & light weight jacket. Layer your clothing so you are prepared for all types of weather. Many of the hotel properties offer coin-operated washers and dryers, for your convenience. Plan on warm weather since this is summertime. Pack one suitcase each. This suitcase is delivered each night to your rooms by the porter. (Tip is included for the porters) You may bring a carry-on bag on board, as well. (Carry-on bags are handled by yourself. Do not make them heavier than what you can carry. ) Pack a swimming suit if you enjoy the pool, bring a camera, a raincoat, and an umbrella...just in case! It is wise to pack an alarm clock as a back up, as sometimes glitches occur for wake-up calls provided from the front desk. Hotels: The hotels are very nice and all rooms blocked are non-smoking with two beds. Many have indoor or outdoor pools, coffeemakers, irons, ironing boards and fitness centers. Read the day-by-day to learn more. They ll do their best to accommodate all special requests. Couples may find they only have one king bed in a room if hotels find two-bedded rooms are limited. All properties have elevators. Meals: There are ten breakfasts included, one lunch and one dinner. Specifics are yet to be announced on the lunch and dinner. Be sure to call in any special diet requests. Tips for the waiters/waitresses are inlcuded for the meals we pre-packaged. Tips are not included for other meals that you pay for on own. (B-Breakfast; L-Lunch; D-Dinner) The Motor Coach: Our coaches are chartered through Trobec Bus Company of St Stephens. They offer the newest fleet in the motor coach business. In fact, they have one that just came off the assembly line! It offers 54 comfortable seats that recline, large windows with pull down shades, adjustable foot rests, arm rests and reading lights. It also has a restrooms on board, TVs, VCR and DVD player. Special Needs: Be sure to let us know of any special needs such as diet, walking, climbing stairs, allergies or motion sickness, etc.prior to departure. Tipping: The tour includes tips for luggage handling and included meals. This tour does not include tipping you driver or tour host. Colognes and Perfumes: With so many folks allergic to the different chemicals in colognes and perfumes, kindly refrain from the heavy use of products containing strong fragrances. Thank you. Schedule Changes: We reserve the right to adjust this schedule for the benefit of all traveling. Sometimes changes occur beyond our control. If a change occurs, we ll replace it with something of equal value. We have no control over any of the attractions listed in this flyer. Travel Protection Insurance: Travel protection insurance is available to folks for many different types of emergencies that may result in a personal cancellation. However, many factors may apply in whether or not coverage would apply. Many people think it s just a medical insurance policy (and it s not) and some even believe that their homeowners insurance covers last minute cancellations, which it does not. Happy Trails tours does NOT offer coverage for cancellations that occur after the deadline date. 5 Our Lady of Hope Pilgrimage June 16-26, 2016 Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe, La Crosse, WI One of the newer Catholic shrines in the United States, the shrine opened to the public in The Shrine Church, done in the Romanesque style, was dedicated in 2008, followed soon after by the Memorial to the Unborn, which emphasizes the dignity of life in all its phases. The Stations of the Cross wind alongside the bluff, with granite benches at each station that allow pilgrims to rest, meditate and pray. The Votive Candle Chapel is reported to be the largest candle rack in the U.S. Also on the grounds is Culina Mariana (Mary's Kitchen) restaurant. The Shrine of Christ's Passion, St John, IN When you step onto the Prayer Trail at The Shrine of Christ's Passion it is as though you have been transported back 2000 years. The Shrine is a multi-media destination, located just 35 miles from Chicago and is set on 30 acres; it is the culmination of a 10 year project with a total cost of ten million dollars to create. 40 life size bronze figures are artfully placed in dramatically landscaped gardens that look and feel like the Holy Land. Here you can sit with Jesus at the Last Supper, journey with Him along the path to His crucifixion, actually enter the empty tomb and finally witness His glorious Ascension into Heaven. Come away with a deeper understanding and appreciation of the love of God for all humanity. Here at The Shrine of Christ's Passion lives are changed one soul at a time. National Shrine of Our Lady of Lourdes, Euclid, OH Our Lady of Lourdes Shrine was opened on Trinity Sunday, May 30, 1926 by the Good Shepherd Sisters on property that was the home of the Harmes Family. In 1952, the Sisters of the Most Holy Trinity took over the operation of the Shrine. The Shrine is a replica of the Grotto in Lourdes, France. Incorporated into the Grotto are two stones taken from the stone upon which Our Lady appeared in Lourdes. The water from the Grotto flows over these holy relics. Since its opening, thousands of pilgrims from across the country and from Canada have come to honor Our Lady and place their petitions before her. Hundreds of favors, both spiritual and temporal, have been reported as granted. Today, the Shrine is available for pilgrims and parish groups to come for prayer and reflections. National Shrine of Our Lady of the Divine Mercy, Stockbridge, MA Located in the heart of the Berkshire Hills of western Massachusetts, the shrine sits on 350acres, know as Eden Hill. The shrine's stained-glass windows and mosaics give it light and character. Created by artist Fred Leuchs, the various glass and mosaics portray the mercy of God through Scripture. The fourteen Stations of the Cross were imported from Spain. Guests are invited to stroll the grounds and visit the many statues and candle shrines like the Lourdes Candle Grotto and Holy Family Shrine. In 2000, St Maria Faustina Kowalska, the secretary of Divine Mercy, was canonized on Divine Mercy Sunday and the Feast of Divine Mercy officially proclaimed by Pope John Paul II. The shrine is the site for the largest celebration in the Northeast of the Feast of The Divine Mercy, which is held each year on the Sunday after Easter. National Shrine of Our Lady of Hope, Tewksbury, MA Devotion to Our Lady of Hope is one of the oldest Marian devotions. The first shrine bearing that title was erected at Mezieres in the year 930. On January 17, 1871, Our Lady of Hope appeared in the French village of Pontmain. There she reveals herself as the "Madonna of the Crucifix" and gave the world her message of "Hope through Prayer and the Cross." The basilica built at Pontmain by the Oblates of Mary Immaculate is one of the great French pilgrimage places, noted for its miracles of grace. The Oblate Fathers introduced the devotion to America in Novena devotions are maintained at the Shrine of Our Lady of Hope, Oblate Fathers' Novitiate and Infirmary, Tewksbury, Massachusetts. Sisters of Frances Marianne Cope Shrine and Museum, Syracuse, NY St. Marianne Cope, a Sister of St. Francis of the Neumann Communities, was canonized Oct. 21, She is the first Franciscan woman from North American to be canonized, and only the 11th American saint. A woman of great valor, this beloved mother of outcasts, spent her early years in central New York where she served as a leader in the field of health care, education and of her own congregation. Responding to a call to care for the poor sick on the then Sandwich Islands, she devoted 35 years to caring for those afflicted with Hansen s disease on Kalaupapa, Molokai, Hawaii. The museum is dedicated to the life and legacy of Saint Marianne. Through displays showcasing her stories and artifacts, audio-visual exhibits, and educational outreach, we are able to share her message of respect and compassion. A first class relic of Saint Marianne lies within a reliquary made specially in her honor and rests in our second gallery, offering visitors an opportunity for peaceful contemplation. This gallery serves as a gathering space for Masses and presentations. Basilica of the Most Sacred Heart. University of Notre Dame, South Bend, IN The University of Notre Dame invites you to visit the Basilica of the Sacred Heart and enjoy one of Notre Dame s most beloved places. Throughout the Basilica and its museum, you can uncover Notre Dame's past through artifacts that reveal the history behind both the Catholic Church and the Congregation of Holy Cross. You will also discover for yourself the exciting beginnings of Our Lady's University as seen through the eyes of its visionary founder, Rev. Edward Sorin, C.S.C. The Basilica of the Sacred Heart serves as the mother church of the Congregation of Holy Cross in the United States. It is in the Basilica that Holy Cross religious profess final vows, that seminarians are ordained priests and where deceased religious are commended to God. Likewise, it is a place of worship and prayer for students, faculty, staff and alumni, as well as for regular worshipers, pilgrims and countless visitors. Our visit will include mass and time to explore the museum and tour the Basilica. Our Lady Queen of Peace, Madison, WI While in Madison, we'll worship together at Our Lady Queen of Peace on our last day of travel together. Since 1945 Our Lady Queen of Peace has served Catholics on Madison s Westside. Their vibrant community now comes from a large geographic area and has grown to more than 2,800 families and more than 500 students enrolled in their school.
