1 SPIRIT OF DIVERSITY EPCC DIVERSITY PROGRAMS PRESENTS 9 th ANNUAL HISPANIC HERITAGE CELEBRATION THE BEST PLACE TO START EL PASO COMMUNITY COLLEGE ADMINISTRATIVE SERVICES CENTER 9050 VISCOUNT, BLDG A OCTOBER 6-8, 2010
2 Dear Distinguished Guests and Colleagues: What an exciting time in our history! The El Paso Community College Diversity Programs/Hispanic Heritage Committee brings the celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month and the Commemoration of 100 years since the Mexican Revolution to the College Family and to our Community. This year of planning brought various scopes of memories, emotions, energies, vitalization and pride as we indulged first hand in the research, dialogue, artifacts and collaborations that touched the people and our city during this era. Discussions arose as to the importance of this time period, the impact it had and continues to have on individuals, our city and the entire nation. Most importantly, the reflection of the continued significance and pride of our ancestry. Many of us who walk the streets of El Paso have had a direct or indirect experience of the times. I sincerely hope this conference will enhance people s knowledge and allow them an opportunity to flourish and to pursue other historical avenues. In conjunction with these efforts and to take this one step further, the entire conference will be video-taped capturing all the highlights. Threshold of memories and conversation can be saved for the next generation. May this generation continue to become knowledgeable, educated, determined, and directed toward an even better tomorrow.
