It is also a celebration of university life and the traditions of ECU. The ECU Alternative Break Experience is intended to challenge all participants to critically reflect upon their role in our local, regional, and global community through service, co-curricular inquiry, leadership, and activism. ABE will also provide learning opportunities to explore social, economic, political, environmental, spiritual and cultural issues through experiential immersion and service. ABE facilitates the exchange of ideas, critical thinking, and application of academic concepts beyond the classroom and within the community. Students engage in service-oriented learning that leads to action and advocates for lasting social change.
