Establishing a partnership is just the first step in the process. Maintaining and sustaining partnerships is critical to their long-term success. Participants will build the capacity and skills to maintain long-lasting partnerships. HOW DO WE MANAGE LARGER CASELOADS? Three different YCC program approaches to: strengthening and creating partnerships with postsecondary and business entities; creating mentoring opportunities, internships, and other work experiences; leveraging resources to support students; involving parents, teachers, and students; and developing successful marketing and communication platforms will be shared. 2

Northeast Iowa Community College will share how the YCC grant and the Iowa Intermediary Network work hand-in-hand to provide career learning experiences for students. GRANTS AND FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT C5521, ROOM 4 Steve Daniels, Division of Policy, Review and Resolution, USDOL This session is also being broadcast as a webinar. Updates to seasoned YCC grantees on financial grants management will be provided. The Uniform Guidance (2 CFR Part 200) as well as DOL s exceptions at 2 CFR Part 2900 will be discussed. Additional discussion topics include: changes to the ETA 9130 Financial Report which will be rolled out shortly; internal controls and how to establish an effective control environment; basic standards for personnel compensation; general principles of proper cash management; sound practices when purchasing and contracting; a basic understanding of indirect cost rates and cost allocation; how to value and record match; single audits; and grant closeout. 1:15 2:30 P.M. Four grantees will present how they are working to meet the required grant goal of infusing mentoring into the YCC program of work. Strategies include small learning communities, study-design groups, differentiated after-school training, on-line courses, and project-based learning. An integration guide, learning units, and lessons learned on the journey to effective professional development will be shared.
