2 On behalf of the University of Colorado s Greek community, we would like to congratulate you on your decision to enroll at CU-Boulder. By deciding to attend this University, you have placed yourself in the position to participate in many great life-enriching activities. At the top of this list is the Greek Community. Fraternity rush offers you an opportunity full of rewards and challenges. In our system of eighteen fraternities, there is a place for every man to excel in academics, athletics, leadership, campus and community service, as well as social activities that may not be available through organizations. In addition to these, fraternities offer a common bond that unites each of us in brotherhood. Your fraternity brothers will not only be your friends through college, but for the rest of your life. Joining a fraternity is a big step in your life; therefore, we encourage you to explore as many different chapters as possible so you will find the fraternity that is right for you. Good luck, and enjoy fraternity life at the University of Colorado. Sincerely, The Interfraternity Council Executive Board

4 Fall 2013 Fraternity Rush starts with two nights of Open House on the nights of September 21st and September 22nd (Saturday and Sunday). Open House night is open to all currently enrolled CU-Boulder students who are not already part of the Fraternity Greek System. Open House Night offers an opportunity for individuals looking to go Greek a chance to meet Fraternity Brothers and visit the various chapter houses that are a part of the Greek community. From 5:00-9:30 PM on September 21st and 1:00-6:00 PM on September 22 nd, potential rush recruits are free to tour any chapter houses of their choice. The goal for Open House Nights is for fraternity chapters to meet as many potential recruits as possible. Once the two nights of Open House have passed, all fraternities will invite a certain number of recruits back for their specific Pref Night offered on one of the days listed on the schedule above. As a potential rushee, it is your duty to utilize these two Open House Nights to meet as many chapters as possible, making sure by the end of the two days that you have introduced yourself, and made a great impression on the fraternity chapters from which you wish to receive a Pref Night invitation. Following two nights of Open House, the rush proceeds turns to Fraternity Chapter Pref Nights that are held over the five days of September 23 rd -27 th. Each fraternity is designated a certain Pref Night that is listed on the schedule above. Pref Nights are designed for each fraternity to invite the recruits they met on the two Open House Nights who they believe will benefit their house in the future. Pref nights are not open to everyone. Only the recruits who receive pref night invitations from chapter houses are allowed to attend that chapter s preference night (NO EXCEPTIONS!). Pref Night is the final event for potential recruits to establish themselves within a chapter house as beneficial pledges. A candidate who will represent not only himself, but the Greek Community as a gentlemen and future leader in the world. This formal event is an opportunity for the chapter houses to get a closer look at the potential new recruits and allows them the chance to learn more about each recruit and find out who they feel is worthy of becoming a future pledge for their brotherhood.

5 After each chapter has had the chance to meet potential recruits through the three days from Open House and Pref Night, all chapters then proceed to vote in the recruits to whom they would like to offer a bid. Every bid is an honor and an opportunity to be admitted as a recruit for a certain chapter house in the fraternity system. Bid Day will be held on Sunday, September 29 th with the location TBA at a later date. All potential recruits are to arrive at the location TBA at 12:00 PM sharp! When potential recruits arrive, they are then sorted alphabetically by last names to receive their bid form from an IFC Officer. On the bid form, every recruit will have a list of chapter house/s that has offered that recruit a bid to become a pledge for their Chapter. You can receive bids from all chapter houses, or get none at all; that is all based on how potential recruits utilize the rush process, and how they represent themselves to the chapter houses they are interested in. After each recruit has received his bid form, he is allowed minutes to decide what Fraternity Chapter he would like to accept, submitting his form to the IFC to be read off at a podium in front of the entire Fraternity Greek System waiting to congratulate the pledges who have accepted their bid. This is the final event of the Fall 2013 Rush Process, and is also the most important for the new recruits. It is a mandatory event that must be attended by all Fraternity Chapter Executive Boards, and all new pledges who have accepted bids from their respective Chapter Houses. Greek 101 will be held on Monday, September 30 th, from 7:30-9:00 PM with the location TBA. Greek 101 is an event hosted by the IFC as a way of introducing new recruits to the dangers of alcohol, and the responsibilities that go with becoming a fraternity man. New pledges are introduced to SEMS (The Student Emergency Medical Services), Boulder Police Department, and The Boulder Fire Department who are all there to introduce themselves to the new pledges, and to re-emphasize the dangers of alcohol to make sure all the pledges know that the fraternity greek system is not a drinking club, but an organization that is built around individual Chapter

Hallmarks of our chapter include our pledging program, our scholarship program, and our academic development program. Additionally, we are proud to be moving into the first new fraternity house built in Boulder in almost two decades. Acacia was first founded in 1904 on the University of Michigan campus. Led by the guiding principle of human service, Acacia has built nearly 100 chapters at fine colleges and universities in the United States and Canada. Our national organization s most recent development was the creation of Cornerstones, a personal development program built to facilitate the maturation of young men. We have relentlessly pursued this purpose by strengthening our ties to the Greek and Jewish community, and serving as a vital link between high school and career. We have over 175 chapters, 9,000 undergraduate brothers, and 90,000 living brothers/alumni nationwide. Some of our notable alumni include Wolf Blitzer, Ron Popiel, Mark Zuckerberg, and many more. Here at CU we are involved in a wide range of activities that will help enhance your college experience. First and foremost we are a social fraternity, and have a variety of activities we do throughout the year. This includes mixers and study hours with sororities, participating in Greek Week and Homecoming, have date dashes, and hosting parties at our chapter house. We also participate in athletics through intramural teams, other house s athletic philanthropies, and occasionally playing football games against another fraternity. We also understand that the most important part of college is earning high grades. We offer various academic support opportunities within our chapter, helping us achieve the highest GPA of any fraternity in Spring We pride ourselves on our ties to the CU Jewish community. We have been principal contributors to Hillel, Chabad, and Holocaust Awareness Week. Several of our brothers are on the executive board for Hillel, of whom is currently serving as president. Apart from these things, our brothers are involved in many activities such as CUSG, Academic Honor Societies, internships, and clubs. The brothers of Alpha Epsilon Pi would like to welcome you to CU Boulder, and we look forward to meeting you in the Fall. Our basic purpose is to provide the opportunity for a Jewish man to be able to join a Jewish organization whose purpose is not specifically religious, but rather social and cultural in nature. Alpha Epsilon Pi is a Jewish fraternity, though non-discriminatory and open to all who are willing to espouse its purpose and values.

9 ΑΓΟ Alpha Gamma Omega 1453 Broadway St. Local: National: -Shayne Herndon..(970) IFC Academic Achievment Highest GPA Safe Chapter Award Welcome to the Xi chapter for the national Christ-centered fraternity. The Xi chapter was founded in Boulder Colorado in 1997 at the University of Colorado. Alpha Gamma Omega was founded in order to spread a saving knowledge of our Lord, and as Christian young men, we subscribe to a common statement of faith: "I hereby publicly confess my belief in the Lord Jesus Christ as God and only Savior and give witness to the regenerating power of the Holy Spirit in my life. I will make it a purpose of my life to continue in fellowship with God through prayer and the reading of the Holy Scriptures." Our Fraternity Verse - II Timothy 2:15 "Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman who needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth." Here we receive the apostle Paul's advice on winning the approval of God. Paul was writing of the Gospel of a Crucified and Risen Lord. Our verse tells us to concentrate fervently on living and spreading the Gospel of Christ, so that we can stand before Him unashamed, having our works approved by Him. Our Motto: "Fraternity for Eternity" As men who put our faith in Christ Jesus, we believe that our fellowship is not broken by death. Rather, we are confident that we will worship the Lord together in His presence in the life to come!

The Italian immigrants had much in common. In the following months, they talked, worked and dreamed together. In time, more Italian-American students came to the school and On May 5, 1913, a small group of men founded Il Circolo Italiano at Syracuse University. This group contributed to the well being of not just their university and its students but to their town and its residents. Nicholas Frunzi, a member of Il Circolo Italiano, proposed the concept of a fraternity. His idea was met with enthusiasm by the group. On November 5, 1914, seven men took the oath and became the first brothers of Alpha Phi Delta Fraternity. The popularity of the men had spread, and their ideals and values followed them as their ideals spread to Columbia university where in January 1916 the Beta Chapter was formed. A few years later Yale joined with Gamma Chapter. With a strong and thriving Italian community along the East Coast, APD has continued to grow. Ninety-five chapters have been chartered since in many of America s finest schools. Almost 100 years later, Alpha Phi Delta has over 20,000 collegiate members and remains the largest, all volunteer fraternity in America. Our Honorary Alumni include the likes of Frank Sinatra, John A. Notte, Jr., Ray Mancini, Henry Mancini, Al DeMao, Aldo Donelli and many more. Our National Organization holds annual council meetings and biannual conventions. These events are always attended by undergraduate members, significant others, alumni, and their families. With that in mind in just 2 years we will be celebrating our 100th Anniversary! Alpha Phi Delta continues to be an Italian Heritage Fraternity, however, honoring America s true spirit. APD proudly represents gentlemen of all creeds and races; most importantly the members must display integrity, scholastic dedication in undergraduate and/or graduate studies, hard work and perseverance in life after school, and permanent and continuing support of the Fraternity. The Delta Chi Chapter of Alpha Phi Delta at the University of Colorado Boulder was founded in 2001, also by seven successful men emulating the National Fraternity s origination. Delta Chi celebrated a wonderful 10 year anniversary this past year. The chapter contributes to the Boulder community: volunteering at the local YMCA, maintaining its Adopt-a-Street on Euclid Ave, participating in Boulder s St. Baldricks Childrens Cancer Charity annually, and numerous other philanthropy events. The Greek Community and the City of Boulder is lucky to have Alpha Phi Delta. We truly represent what it is to be a Gentleman.

You can go to school with someone for years and still not consider them your brother. You could know someone since you were two years old and not consider them a brother. Considering someone as a brother is a recognition reserved for those whose core life values match up harmoniously between themselves.that is what Alpha Sigma Phi is. It began when men from all walks of life joined together and formed up as the Pi colony at Boulder. They recognized that starting a fraternity would not be easy. They had no tradition to look back on for guidance, they were the traditions in the making. But they took these challenges in stride, recognizing that fraternities were intended to do what Alpha Sigma Phi promises : To Better the Man. No matter what we re doing, that motto is always on our minds. It doesn t just resonate with inner betterment. When we go biking, we try to push ourselves to go as hard and as far as we can. When we ski, we never shy away from a challenging run and we always try to perfect any trick. When it comes to the arts, we do not settle for mediocrity. Whether it s guitar, banjo, drums, or even singing, we focus on not just playing well, but enjoying it. Bettering the man does not just mean trying to dress nice and act a part, it is about living your life to its fullest. Since our founding, we have gone from colony to chapter in two years. We are the first chapter Alpha Sigma Phi has had on campus since the 50s. We have our first house this fall and are ready for our roots to sink in deep here at Boulder. Alpha Sigma Phi is taking its momentum-filled beginning and running with it as far as the eye can see. We cannot wait to meet those who share the same drive and passion for life and soon thereafter call them brother.

The Eta Gamma Chapter of Pi Kappa Phi received its charter on November 22, Pi Kappa Phi is the only fraternity that owns and operates its own national philanthropy, Push America. Push America s purpose is to raise awareness for people with disabilities, through fundraising, and promoting a spirit of volunteerism. With these goals in mind, the organization has many events in which brothers in the fraternity actively participate, such as No Boundaries Week, Push-Academy, Give-A-Push weekend, Push camps, Journey of Hope, Gear Up Florida, and Accessibility projects in the Boulder area. These programs along with other events are extremely important to us and help us develop a better community. The Eta Gamma Chapter has its own program that works with children with disabilities from Fairview High School to do various activities and events together. These events range from bowling to BBQ s to softball. Journey of Hope, otherwise known as JOH, is one of the largest fundraisers for Push America. It consists of a large group of Pi Kappa Phi brothers that individually raise a minimum of $5000 and participate in a bike ride across America starting at various points on the West Coast and finishing in Washington D.C. This event requires a lot of planning and fundraising, but is one of the most rewarding for those brothers who choose to participate. The Eta Gamma Chapter had 6 brothers that rode in the summer of 2013! This event alone has raised over 13 million dollars for people with disabilities since 1987.

As a result, we are selective and accept only the top men into our brotherhood. While other fraternities take all-comers and cull out those unfit over the course of a semester, we select superior men from the beginning. All who accept our bid become voting brothers, not pledges - a practice we view as a proper start to lifelong friendships. Our members enter as accomplished men and we help them realize their full potential with the support of the largest undergraduate fraternity nationwide. With a committed national and local alumni base, SigEp provides countless opportunities for its members including scholarships, leadership training, and job opportunities after college. In line with our ideal of the Balanced Man, SigEp maintains as much of a focus on academics as it does on social life and an active lifestyle. We consistently achieve amongst the highest overall GPA of any fraternity while still being able to offer our members the rewarding social experience of being in a large house. We accomplish this by providing members several academic resources, including a live-in graduate student who helps with any educational needs. We have a historic chapter house that was constructed in 1926, and with planned renovations, it will get a new look for the modern day. Being on Broadway across from the UMC, SigEp boasts perhaps the best location of any fraternity house. Our superb location serves as a hub between campus and The Hill for all of our members.

Last year we raised over $66,000 dollars, and since Miss Greek was started in 2006 we have helped raise over $350,000, making it the largest student run philanthropy in Boulder s history! Sigma Pi grants its members an amazing social network that gives everyone a chance to make new friends and have great experiences. The Greek System serves as a way to be part of a smaller community while still enjoying the benefits of a large campus. When you take your first walk around the University of Colorado, the brothers of Sigma Pi hope that you see the potential in this school and in yourself, and realize that Sigma Pi will take you to where you want to be.

22 ΘΞ THETA XI th street Local: National: -Vojislav Vlahovic..(303) Recruitment Chair -Garrett Jaso..(301) Brenden Lopez- VP Matt Nelson- Treasurer Phil Schaff- Secretary Raleigh Davis Ems-Scholorship Mike Molinari- Chairman of the board The Theta Xi Fraternity is the most active fraternity on the CU campus; not only embracing the traditional social, academic, and philanthropic aspects of Greek life, but also taking advantage of the unique opportunities Boulder and the American West have to offer through outdoor and sport activities. Theta Xi develops leadership and nobility among its members. This chapter is full of opportunities for one to pursue, and the brothers continuously strive for personal excellence. Theta Xi is a group of young men who work together to accomplish goals while assisting one another on their path to manhood. Theta Xi members push one another to strive for their best in all aspects of collegiate life through the principles of BALANCE: Brotherhood, Academics, Leadership, Adventure, Nobility, Community, and Extreme Sports. The chapter is very involved in a variety of intramurals and outdoor sports, which promotes synergy among participants. The adventure sports aspect promotes moving beyond one's limits. Whether it's climbing a sheer cliff face in Rocky Mountain National Park, mountain biking the last mile of a trail in Moab, Utah, or relaxing on a houseboat on Lake Powell, Theta Xi helps its members experience the beauty of the outdoors and excel through difficult situations.

The aim of TKE is to build Better Men for a better world. The latest Tau Kappa Epsilon Gamma Iota chapter recently arrived at the University of Colorado at Boulder and was officially given colony status in 2012, with 20 active members. Since that day, Gamma Iota has grown to 40 and is going to charter in the spring semester of 2014.

24 ΖΒΤ Zeta Beta Tau th St. Local: National: -Nick Lubell...(973) Recruitment Chairman -Mason Johnson.(952) Internal VP Max Bradford External VP Harken Maguire, Treasurer Michael Schweibinz, Secretary Zack Rosenfeld, Sergeant at Arms Eric Frandemo The Beta Alpha Theta Chapter of the Zeta Beta Tau fraternity is a consistently growing chapter with brothers who are Gentleman, Athletes and Scholars. Our Chapter boasts one of the highest house GPAs on campus and is proud to host the annual Buff Bowl Philanthropy event. We are also proud to host one of the biggest parties of the year at the end of the year in ZBTahiti. The mission of Zeta Beta Tau Fraternity (ZBT) is to foster and develop in its membership the tenets of its Credo: Intellectual Awareness, Social Responsibility, Integrity and Brotherly Love, in order to prepare its members for positions of leadership and service within their communities. Mindful of its founding in 1898 as the Nation s first Jewish Fraternity, ZBT will preserve and cultivate its relationships within the Jewish community. Since 1954, ZBT has been committed to its policy of nonsectarian Brotherhood, and values the diversity of its membership. ZBT will recruit and initiate men of good character, regardless of religion, race or creed whose actions and character represent these principals.
