NC State Women s Soccer vs. South Carolina Gamecocks 7 P.M.-9 P.M. Dail Soccer Stadium The NC State women s soccer team starts off the 2015 season by hosting an exhibition match against South Carolina. The Gamecocks finished last year and were eliminated in the Elite Eight of the NCAA Tournament by eventual national champion Florida State. UAB Beach BINGO 9-10 P.M. Join the Union Activities Board and play Beach BINGO to win some great prizes. Sponsored by the UAB Leisure and Recreation committee Free Movie: Ferris Bueller s Day Off 7pm and 12pm. Witherspoon Student Center, Campus Cinema Join the Union Activities Board at their first films of the year. Sponsored by the UAB Films committee. SATURDAY AUGUST 15 Residence Hall Move-In 9 A.M.-4 P.M. All Residence Halls First in Family Welcome Lunch 12-2 P.M. Talley Student Union, State Ballroom Parents and families of students who are first generation, or First in Family to attend college, are invited to join us as we celebrate the achievement of your student and your family. Take a break from move-in and let us welcome you, your student and your family, on this new adventure. Note: Preregistration for this event is required to participate. Please call the Parents & Families HelpLine at for more information about this event. GLBT Symposium 12-7 P.M. Talley Student Union, GLBT Center (room 5230) The GLBT Symposium is a half-day welcome and communitybuilding experience designed to provide incoming students with information about the GLBT Center, annual events, and ways to get involved. Students will learn about GLBT student organizations, opportunities to volunteer through the GLBT Center, and GLBT resources in the local community. UAB Screen on the Green 9-11 P.M. Wind down after all that stressful moving in, and bring your blanket and friends to enjoy Big Hero 6, the first outdoor movie of the season! Rain Location: Campus Cinema, Witherspoon Student Center. All Residence Halls Orientation Small Group Reunion 12-1 P.M.; Which orientation small group is the best? Reunite with your OL to compete for the title, get some cool treats, and find out more about becoming an OL! Brickyard Hockey with the Pack 1-3 P.M. University Plaza (the Brickyard) Come out and play some Brickyard Hockey with the Ice Hockey team! No hockey experience required, everyone is welcome. Stop by to get free tickets to the Ice Hockey Home Opener & other freebies! Wolfpack Wandering: Find Your Classes 1-3 P.M. Give your fall schedule a test run before Wednesday by exploring campus to find where your classes are located. Orientation Leaders will be in the Stafford Commons to hand out maps and help you plan your daily routes!

Bringing you into the Pack! Panhellenic Association Ice Cream Social 3-5 P.M. Harris Field Join the Panhellenic Association for free ice cream at Harris Field (in front of Witherspoon Student Center) to learn more about Panhellenic sororities on campus, our exceptional academics, our representation in other student organizations, how we give back to the community, and becoming part of our sisterhood. Out-of-State Student Welcome 4:30-5:30 P.M. Join other out-of-state students, in getting to know the best of what North Carolina has to offer. Enjoy NC State s own Howling Cow ice cream while you continue to learn all about the state s culture and traditions. You will also have the opportunity to connect with other students from your home state or region! Librarians will be on hand to introduce students to essential services and spaces provided by the library. We will also be debuting D.H. Hill s new Makerspace and printing student schedules for free! 4 The World Hunger Banquet 11:30 A.M.-1 P.M. Caldwell Hall, Caldwell Lounge Get the chance to learn how unequally food is distributed around the world. For $6 admission, get placed into a high middle or lowincome class and receive a corresponding meal accompanied by stimulating discussion. You will think twice about the food on your plates. Hosted by 4 the World-NC State Chapter. New Photographer Convocation Coverage 12:30-5 P.M. Witherspoon Student Center, Room 323 New photographers for Agromeck and Technician will get to go out as a group with more seasoned students to shoot their first assignment: Convocation. Convocation 1:30-4:30 P.M. PNC Arena 1:30-2:40 PM: Buses load at Bragaw hall. Go to newstudents.ncsu.edu/welcomeweek for details PM: Pre-convocation Student Group Performances 2:30-3:00 PM: Pep Rally with the NC State Marching Band 3-4:30 PM: Convocation. Get a Class of 2019 t-shirt for participating in traditional 2019 on-the-floor souvenir photo, and bring your book to be signed by the author. Don t forget your student ID. RecFest 6-9:00 P.M. Miller Fields Enjoy an evening of fun as University Recreation helps you kick off the year with RecFest, an interactive event offering free food, giveaways and entertainment. Bring your friends and be a part of one of the largest events on campus. UAB Late Night Target Run 10 P.M.-1 A.M. Pickup bus on Morrill Dr. near Carmichael Gym Catch a free ride to Target to pick up all those last minute essentials and score some special discounts. Be sure to bring your NC State ID. MONDAY AUGUST 17 Talley Student Union, Stafford Commons (Talley Lawn) Caldwell Fellows Scholarships 10 A.M.-12 P.M. Witherspoon Student Center, Room 201 Current Caldwell Fellows explain selection criteria, benefits and application. Talley Student Union, Suites 4261, 5210, and 5230 Please come visit the offices of Multicultural Student Affairs, the Women s Center and the GLBT Center to learn about our wonderful opportunities to get involved on campus. Light refreshments will be served in each location. Life s Little Drama: Puppets, Proxies, and Spirits 4-6 P.M. Tour this exhibition on a drop in basis with Gregg Museum Curator of Education, Zoe Starling. Puppets displayed include an entire cast of the 19th century English Punch and Judy figures, Indonesian shadow puppets, a Chinese Opera Troupe, and a large Yayaroba figure from the Bamana tribe of Mali. WKNC Concert on the Lawn 5-7 P.M. Harris Field NC State s student radio station, WKNC 88.1 FM, hosts a concert featuring live music from bands based in North Carolina. Learn about student radio and the music made right here in our state. BODYPUMP Launch 5:30-6:30 P.M. Carmichael Rec Center, Studio B Experience the first launch of our newest Group Fitness class: Les Mills BODYPUMP. This lifting class is a full body workout designed to build strength and stamina. Be sure to reserve your spot 24 hours in advance. No experience necessary. UAB Diversity Breakfast After Dark 10 P.M.-12 A.M. Fountain Dining Hall The UAB Diversity Activities Board invite you to join us for an unforgettable late night breakfast where you will meet new people and celebrate diversity! 2

3 MONDAY AUGUST 17 contd. Moonlight Howl and Run 11:59 P.M.-1 A.M. The Belltower Make a move at this non-competitive road race as you navigate through landmarks around campus. Race ends with a healthy late night snack on the Brickyard. Receive a t-shirt upon completing this walk/run. Poe Hall, Room 218 A welcoming event for first year psychology graduate students to get them familiar with everything they need to know to be successful in graduate school. Campus Connections 1 10 A.M.-1 P.M. Talley Student Union Come see all that your college experience has to offer! Learn about ways to connect with a variety of student organizations, academic programs, and campus services. Talley Student Union, Room 3285 Come and meet other commuter students and learn about ways to get engaged in the Wolfpack community while living offcampus! Pizza will be provided, and the group will explore the Campus Connections student involvement fair at the end of the program. NC State Hearts Transfers 12-1:30 P.M. Talley Student Union, Room 3285 Socialize with new and current transfer students, grab free pizza, and get a free t-shirt by trading in a t-shirt from your last school! All traded clothes will be donated, and if you don t have swag to swap, no problem! Any transfer student with a student ID can receive a shirt (quantities limited). It is highly recommended that transfer students consider attending the Campus Connections student involvement fair before or after this event! Lake Raleigh (Centennial Campus) Getaway at Lake Raleigh, a gem of Centennial Campus. Kayaks and canoes will get you out on the water. Cool down with fresh fruit popsicles from Citizen Pops. Come when you can and stay as long as you d like for a good time to meet new friends. Crafts Center Open House & Pottery Sale 4-6 P.M. Frank Thompson Hall, Lower Level What can you do at the Crafts Center? Come to our Open House and find out! Tour the Crafts Center studios, enjoy refreshments & craft work demonstrations and buy a pot or two, or three, or more... lots & lots of unclaimed pots on sale $1 to $5 to raise funds to rebuild our gas kiln. Behind the Scenes at the Gregg s collection facility 4-6 P.M. 516 Brickhaven Dr., Ste. 200, near J.C. Raulsten Arboretum (free parking) A museum open-house offered on a drop-in basis; stroll behind-the-scenes with Gregg Museum Registrar, Mary Hauser, and see sculptures, furniture on shelves, paintings and photographs stored on walls, etc., all of it part of the University s vast collection of educational art objects and artifacts. Carmichael Complex Tours 5-6 P.M. Tucker/Owen Beach Meet the members of the Inter-Residence Council and the Interfraternity Council while enjoying free food, music, and fun. Fiddler on the Roof Audition Orientation 6-8 P.M.; Frank Thompson Hall Orientation and preparation for the upcoming auditions for Fiddler on the Roof. Respect the Pack 7-9 P.M.; Wolf Plaza Make a commitment to support the values of equality and mutual respect for all people in our diverse community at NC State. Take part in Respect the Pack, an event which brings the campus community together, students, faculty and staff alike, to paint the Free Expression Tunnel while enjoying performances from diverse student organizations. Mind/Body Mix 7:30-9:30 P.M. Carmichael Rec Center, Studio A Are you curious about different Mind/Body classes? Come join us for Mind/Body Mix to experience Yoga Flow, Power Yoga, and Pilates. We will end the class with Restorative Yoga to relax and meditate. No experience necessary. WEDNESDAY AUGUST 19 First Day of Class PACK the Lawn Party 11:30 A.M.-1:30 P.M. Join University Recreation for an afternoon of fun on Stafford Green outside of the Talley Student Center Union. Relax with new members of the Pack and enjoy snacks, games and activities, including Spikeball, KanJam and more. Mi Placita (My Little Plaza) 12-2:30 P.M. Talley Student Union, Outdoor Terrace Come join Multicultural Student Affairs (MSA) and friends as we kick off the new school year at Mi Placita. Mi Placita is a weekly hangout at Talley Student Union where everyone is welcomed to get together to listen to music, play dominoes, dance, eat lunch and meet new people at NC State. We look forward to seeing you out there! Career Development Center Open House 2-5 P.M. Pullen Hall, Career Development Center The Career Development Center will be hosting an open house for students, faculty and staff to tour our newly renovated Center. We ll be kicking off the school year with food, music and giveaways. Welcome Back, Pack! Dinner 4:30-8:30 P.M. Fountain and Clark Dining Halls Kick of your fall semester with a meal that is sure to have you coming back for seconds. Wolf Plaza (Near the Free Expression Tunnel) Join the University Fire Marshal s Office on Wolf Plaza for a fun and informational fire and life safety event. We will have Selfies with Siren (our Dalmatian), Fire Extinguisher Demonstrations and Watch What You Heat Demonstrations. Our staff will be available to answer all of your campus fire safety questions. RED Friday 11 A.M.-1 P.M. Wolf Plaza (Near the Free Expression Tunnel) We re the RED and White from State and we know we are the best! Show your spirit and get caught wearing RED to receive some cool NC State swag! But, be warned! If you re in any other color, be prepared to receive a spirit citation from student leaders! Trial Classes with the Dance Program 2:45-4 P.M. Carmichael Gym, Room 2307 Take a Modern Dance Class, taught by Assistant Director of Dance Tara Mullins, and learn more about the NC State Dance Program while you are there. This class will be sample of the work done in the NC State Dance Company. Auditions for this company will be on Tuesday August 25th at 6pm in Carmichael Carmichael Weight Room Orientation 4-6 P.M. Carmichael Gym, Weight Room 130 Trained fitness staff will show you how to properly and effectively use strength and cardio equipment. Bring your fitness questions and let us help you achieve your workout goals. Orientations will begin every 30 minutes. 5 5

Carmichael Gym, Room 2307 Take a Contemporary/Hip Hop class and learn more about the NC State Dance Program while you are there. Auditions for this company will be on Wednesday, August 26 th at 6pm in Carmichael The Ultimate Group Fitness Class 5:30-7 P.M. Carmichael Rec Center, Studio B Not sure which Group Fitness class is your favorite? Join several UREC Group Fitness Instructors for a blend of formats at The Ultimate Group Fitness Class. You will experience step, kickboxing, dance, strength, yoga, and more! New Student Programs newstudents.ncsu.edu SATURDAY AUGUST 22 Packapalooza on Hillsborough Street 2 P.M.-10 P.M Packapalooza is an all-day block party and street festival capping off Wolfpack Welcome Week at the start of the academic year. We will have everything it takes to celebrate in NC State style, including great music, activities throughout the day, and fun entertainment for the whole family.
