Supervised by well-trained, caring counselors, your child will enjoy a wide range of entertaining, educational activities, stimulating field trips, healthy, kid-friendly meals, and a chance to explore Cornell s amazing resources and beautiful campus. 3 Learning & fun for... li l Bears ages 3-4 Through songs, dances, games, stories, and rhythmic instruments, Li l Bears will explore Music and Motion from around the world. Crafts, outdoor play, and visits to interesting places on and off campus will round out each safe and happy day. Note: Children must be potty trained. (8:30 a.m. 4:30 p.m., M F) $335 Tykes ages 5-6 Tykes will go On Safari, investigating the cultures, customs, and natural habitats of lands where lions, giraffes, elephants, and other creatures great and small roam the earth. Hands-on maps and model projects, music, crafts, games, and field trips will fill each day with fun and friends. (8:30 a.m. 4:30 p.m., M F) $415 Explorers ages 7-8 While building their own model planes and imaginative soaring machines, Explorers will Take Flight and learn basic aeronautic principles of airflow, propulsion, stability, and control. Swimming, games, crafts, and play will blend with education for a week of nonstop fun. (8:30 a.m. 4:30 p.m., M F) $435 Big Reds ages 9-10 Junior Cornellians ages Big Reds and Junior Cornellians will attend a weeklong course of their choice in the morning (see next page). Afternoon activities will include swimming, bowling, team-building workshops, crafts, and visits to places of interest on and off campus. (8:30 a.m. 4:30 p.m., M F) $450 TEENS ages Teens can attend under one of two options and choose a weeklong morning course from those listed on the next page. Commuter Teens will attend from 8:30 a.m. until 10 p.m., Monday through Friday. Tuition includes the morning course, lunches, dinners, snacks, and the afternoon and evening program. $625 Resident Teens will live in a dorm with their counselors from Sunday afternoon until Saturday morning. Tuition includes room, meals and snacks, and the full program (morning course plus afternoon and evening activities). $1,030

4 Courses The following morning enrichment programs, taught by Cornell students, emphasize demonstrations and a hands-on approach to learning while introducing youth and young adolescents to college and career opportunities within a field of interest. Big Reds, Junior Cornellians, and Teens should register for one course each week. Courses for Big Reds ages 9-10 Arts All Around You Experimenting with objects and textures found in nature and using a variety of traditional art supplies and materials, Big Reds will design and develop creative art projects to dazzle their friends and family. They ll craft, mold, shape, build, paint, and draw and learn to see and explore the world with an artist s eye. Rockets and Robots Working solo and in teams, Big Reds will build and launch their own rockets and learn how robots work, what they do, and ways in which they ve transformed the world. Using principles of science, technology, engineering, and math, Big Reds will enjoy hands-on robotics and discover the mechanisms of machines that think, sense, and act on their own. Additional fee: $30 Courses for Big Reds and Junior Cornellians ages 9-12 Horse Care and Riding Learn the basics of horsemanship, such as control, posting to the trot, and cantering. You ll practice leading and handling horses, grooming, saddling and bridling, and discover all sorts of useful information, such as how to give horses a bath and how to tell age from their teeth. Additional fee: $150 (Limited enrollment register now!) Outdoor Adventures If you re a kid who likes to be on the move, you ll enjoy this active program. In addition to ground-level games and lessons on safety and technique, you ll have the opportunity to sample group activities on the Hoffman Challenge Course and rappelling on the Lindseth Climbing Wall. 5 Sailing Learn about the parts of a boat and how to tie knots, and get hands-on practice in setting sail and navigating through water. The indoor rainy-day demonstrations and outdoor fun on the lake don t require any previous sailing experience, but you must know how to swim. Additional fee: $130 (Limited enrollment register now!) Courses for Junior Cornellians ages Kids in the Kitchen A basic nutrition and culinary course, with instruction, demonstrations, and cooking every day. JCs will visit professional kitchens at Cornell and in town, learn from experienced chefs, prepare a lunch buffet for friends and parents, and bring home a book of the week s favorite recipes. Students should bring their own full apron with bib and must agree to handle equipment and utensils safely. Additional fee: $25 Natural Wonders: Physical Science JCs will discover and experiment with physical phenomena that make things work: energy and matter, mechanics of propulsion and movement, magnets, light, sound, and electricity. They ll enjoy lots of hands-on activities under the guidance of Cornell student scientists while learning to observe, measure, solve problems, and communicate findings. Writers Circle: Writing Sampler Open to JCs who are at least twelve years old, space permitting. See course description under Teens. The charge for Li l Bears, Tykes, Explorers, Big Reds, and Junior Cornellians includes the full program (8:30 a.m. 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday), healthy lunches, fresh fruit, and snacks. Two Teen options are available: The charge for Commuter Teens includes the full program (8:30 a.m. 10 p.m., Monday through Friday), lunches, dinners, and snacks. The charge for Residential Teens includes the full program (Sunday afternoon until Saturday morning) as well as room and board.

6 Courses for Teens ages Outdoor Teen Adventures Featuring rigorous challenges for novice and experienced climbers supervised by instructors from Cornell Outdoor Education (COE), this program will include teenlevel ground games, Hoffman Challenge Course elements, ascents on COE s West Campus Climbing Wall, and a Tyrolean traverse across Beebe Lake Gorge. If you re a teen who enjoys non-competitive but highly physical activity, this is a good recreational opportunity in a safe but exciting learning environment. Additional fee: $140 (Limited enrollment register now!) Sailing on Cayuga This complete introduction to sailing and tying knots, with lectures, demonstrations, and practice on Cayuga Lake, will be taught by certified instructors and supervised by Cornell s superb Department of Athletics and Physical Education. You must know how to swim and be prepared to fall in and tread water, rain or shine. Additional fee: $130 (Limited enrollment register now!) Veterinary Science: Field, Farm, and Clinic If you love animals, this course will introduce you to the training, skills, and responsibilities required to work with them as a veterinarian, farmer, zookeeper, trainer, or pet-shelter technician. You ll explore veterinary public health and preventive medicine, animal welfare and clinical ethics, and the human-animal bond. Classroom discussions and demonstrations will alternate with field trips. Writers Circle: Writing Sampler Discover how good writing works and how to make yours powerful. From hip-hop to Shakespeare, poetry to prose, personal memoir to fiction, this informal workshop will lead you through a wide range of language, thought, and feelings. You ll develop a sharp eye and ear for what makes an exciting poem, essay, or story. This is a perfect course for the novice as well as the experienced writer.
