1 28 th Annual Bill Burkett Basketball Tournament November 19 & 20, Featuring the teams of: Ansonia Tigers Arcanum Trojans Franklin Monroe Jets Greenon Knights Tri-Village Patriots
2 The RAX was in the works for several years before conception. Finally, after the construction of the new gym facility here at Tri-Village High School, the tournament became reality. The tournament originally was to be held over the Christmas vacation, this conflicted with the well-established Jet Christmas Tournament, so the girls moved to the Thanksgiving Holiday weekend during the 1989 season. For the past 27 years, only Ansonia, Arcanum, Franklin Monroe, and the host Tri- Village have participated. All four of these schools are members of the Cross County Conference. The Tri-Village Administration, Athletic Department, and the faculty are once again very pleased to be able to host this tournament in. We welcome the high school girls basketball fans, and we hope that you will enjoy the tournament games as they are played. We are pleased to have these same three members of Darke County and the Cross County Conference as participants along with our own Tri-Village Patriots. In 1992, we changed the name of the tournament to the Lady Pats/Bill Burkett Tournament. It is named in honor of community member Bill Burkett. Bill has done many things for the Tri-Village Schools and the Athletic Department. For the past several years, he has bought dinner for the high school teams and for 27 years he has honored the Athletic Department with a scholarship for the top athlete, named in honor of his wife Maxine Burkett. He has donated to the high school computer lab, as well. His many contributions to Tri-Village have gone unrecognized too many times. We welcome the opportunity to give some back to Mr. Burkett. Tri-Village Athletics Thanks You for your outstanding efforts, Bill. We feel that the Lady Pats/ Bill Burkett Tournament is the best high school girls tournament in the state. It has been very successful, exciting, and the gym has always been full of fans hungry to see good girls basketball. Enjoy the games and remember to conduct yourself in the manner that can only bring respect towards your school and yourself. Thanks for being here.
