2 LA SALLE UNIVERSITY S WEEKLY INFORMATION CIRCULAR August 6, 1993 La S a lle U n iversity Philadelphia, Pennsylvania Resident Life Office TO: The Campus Community FROM: Ron Diment, Director of Resident Life DATE: July 28, 1993 I am most pleased to announce the appointment of Ms. Julie Cohen as Assistant Director of Resident Life for Staff Supervision effective July 26. Julie received her B.A. degree in economics from the University of Pennsylvania and an M.S. degree from Villanova University in College Counseling and Student Personnel Services. She most recently worked in the Department of Residence Life at Philadelphia College of Textiles and Sciences. With Langhome as her hometown, Julie s Philadelphia roots are well established. She will supervise our 43 Resident Assistant and 7 Resident Director, live-in staff this year and will soon be moving into an apartment in St. Teresa Court. From what she relates, it is apparent she has already tasted some of the friendly flavor of our campus. I encourage you to meet her and join her quest to facilitate a living/learning environment which embodies the values of a LaSalle education. Campus News is distributed weekly to foster communication and encourage information sharing among University departments. Articles submitted are the responsibility of their authors alone and do not imply an opinion on the part of La Salle University or the Department of Mail and Duplicating Services.
3 La S a lle U n iversity Philadelphia, Pennsylvania Computer Center To: From: Re: The Campus Community Peter Wescott Telephone Switch Cutover/Departmental Access Date: August 4, 1993 We have rescheduled the cutover of the new telephone switch for 3:30 p.m. this friday August 6. Bell of Pennsylvania will reroute incoming calls to the new trunk lines. The ability to make outgoing calls should be available 30 minutes after the cutover. Almost Immediately, we will begin installing the new digital telephones. The installation and testing of these phones will continue throughout the weekend. As telephones are being installed, someone from Physical Facilities (to unlock doors and manage the alarms) or the Computer Center will be present at all times in each department during the process. If for reasons of security or confidentiality other precautions or arrangements need to be taken, please contact me at ext 1858 as soon as possible. If, in the first week after the cutover, you have questions concerning the new telephones or need to report a problem, please call ext After the first week telephone problems should be reported to the campus telephone operator who can be reached by dialing "0".
4 Mail and Duplicating emo TO: The University Community FROM: Linda M. Ferrante, Director RE: Requests for Service - Fall Semester Your cooperation is appreciated and helps everyone! Dear Friends and Colleagues: As the fall semester quickly approaches, there are a few suggestions I would like to make to help you to get the services you need. The staff persons of Mail and Duplicating and I are dedicated to providing you with the best possible services through your on-campus facility here in the East Stands. Each year at this time, as most of your already know, and for the benefit of those who don t, there is an overload of work causing possible delays in turnaround on printing and duplicating requests. The following suggestions will help to expedite work more quickly for the entire community. 1. Copying from books, i.e., multiple single copies of pages, is the single most time consuming work request and should not be requested during the period between Aug. 20th to Sept. 20th. Submit the first copy for reproduction, not the book. Also, remember to have your copyright permission. 2. For the fastest service on duplicating submit clean, flat, unstapled, one or two sided, dark typed, 8.5 X 11" originals without thick black edges. Request white paper, two sided, stapled sets in any amount. Turnaround time will be according to the workload present and may vary. 3. For 5 day service on Printing submit camera ready artwork for new jobs, samples of reprint, and indicate ink color, stock color, weight and size. Include your telephone extension and a contact name in case we need to contact you concerning your request. Departments should check there supply of letterhead stationery and envelopes this week and request any printing that you may need as soon as possible. Lastly, always keep your yellow slip and bring it with you when picking up your finished work. Thank You. La Salle University Philadelphia, PA 19141
