5 Best Practice Reward Schools All Texas Reward Schools were invited by their ESCs to submit a school profile for publication on the Capacity Building website. 76 profiles from 16 ESCs were submitted. All were posted. 10 ESC and TEA staff reviewed the profiles for excellent examples of best practices in one or more of the Critical Success Factors to be featured in videos that will be posted on the Capacity Building webpage.
6 Best Practice Reward Schools 6 schools were selected to be featured in the Best Practice Videos. The videos will feature improving academic performance and using quality data to improve instruction. Look for the announce to view the videos this summer!

19 2015 Title I, Part A Validations-CIPs Selecting LEAs and campuses TEA gathered the selection list from the SC5000, Title I, Part A Campus Selection, in the NCLB Consolidated Federal Grant Application. TEA then randomly selected a statewide representation of LEAs and campuses stratified per region. The number of LEAs and campuses selected may vary from year to year.
20 2015 Title I, Part A Validations-CIPs Determining what will be reviewed TEA reserves the right to review any component of the Title I, Part A program. In Agency staff reviewed the CIP with a focus on the following:
21 2015 Title I, Part A Validations-CIPs Reviewed: The most current CNA summary The required Ten Components of a Schoolwide Program which are easily identifiable within the contents of the CIP The alignment of activities or strategies to support the identified Schoolwide Component
22 2015 Title I, Part A Validations-CIPs February 2, 2015 TEA contacted LEAs selected for review via letter mailed to Administrator February 23, 2015 April 13, 2015 Deadline for LEAs submit the (CIP) via NCLB Reports Deadline for TEA review; TEA shares the results with appropriate ESC staff.
23 2015 Title I, Part A Validations-CIPs TEA notifies LEAs with results of the desktop review via . Met Requirements Did Not Meet Requirements Met Requirements but needs technical assistance Congratulations! No more documentation needs to be submitted to TEA. One or more requirements were not met. LEA needs to receive technical assistance from appropriate ESC staff by May 15, One or more of the requirements met but needed to be strengthened. No more documentation needs to be submitted to TEA.

28 Title I Schoolwide Programs The purpose of Title I, Part is to improve the achievement of the lowest achieving students in high poverty schools.
29 Title I Schoolwide Programs Three core elements: Comprehensive needs assessment (CNA) of the entire school. Comprehensive schoolwide plan(cip) based on the CNA. Annual review of the CIP and revising the plan, as necessary, to ensure continuous improvement.
30 Title I Schoolwide Programs Title I Part A funds may be used to: Improve the achievement of low-achieving students in subjects other than reading and mathematics Support any academic areas that the CNA identified as needing improvement and included in the CIP Upgrade the entire educational program, however the focus remains on improving the achievement of the lowest-achieving students
31 Title I Schoolwide Programs Fund any activities designed to raise the achievement of lowachieving student identified in the CNA and included in the CIP o Attendance o School climate o Discipline o Bullying o Positive behavior o Support Intervention programs

37 Ed-Flex Waivers Texas received approval from the U.S. Department of Education to continue its Ed-Flex waiver authority under the Education Flexibility Partnership Act of 1999, as amended, on April 13, 2006, effective until such time as Title I, Part A of NCLB is reauthorized.
38 Ed-Flex Waivers Three types of waivers are available to LEAs: 1. Statewide Administrative Waivers 2. Statewide Programmatic Waivers 3. Individual Programmatic Waivers. Each type of waiver has a different application and evaluation procedure.
39 Ed-Flex Waivers Individual Programmatic Waivers Individual programmatic waivers provide LEAs and campuses the flexibility in the use of federal program funds based on the barriers preventing student achievement.

41 Ed-Flex Waivers Individual Programmatic Waiver Applications, along with instructions will be available on the NCLB website on April 15, For questions the NCLB mailbox: Applications received by May 29, 2015, will be considered by the Texas Ed-Flex Committee in June, 2015 for a start date of July 1, 2015, if approved by the Ed-Flex Committee and Commissioner.
42 Ed-Flex Waivers Applications received by August 14, 2015, will be considered by the Committee at the September, 2015 meeting for a start date of October 1, 2015, if approved by the Ed-Flex Committee and Commissioner. No Ed-Flex Waiver applications received after the August 14 deadline will be considered for the school year.
