The purpose of the hearing is to secure the views of interested persons concerning the proposal to issue a general permit to authorize the construction and maintenance of temporary access walkways across beach swales with standing water on exposed Great Lakes bottomlands. The permit would be issued under Part 303, Wetlands Protection, and Part 325, Great Lakes Submerged Lands, of the Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Act, 1994 PA 451, as amended. Information Contact: April Lewicki, Air Quality Division, PUBLIC MEETING ON A PROPOSED REMEDIATION PLAN FOR THE TAR LAKE SUPERFUND SITE, MANCELONA, ANTRIM COUNTY. Consideration of a proposed cleanup plan for this federal Superfund site of environmental contamination. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), with the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality, will explain the preferred plan for cleaning up contaminated soil and groundwater at the Tar Lake Superfund site, while also summarizing other cleanup alternatives evaluated for this site. Copies of the proposed plan will be available at the July 11, 2001, meeting, to be held at the Mancelona High School, 110 Carleton, Mancelona. The public is encouraged to review and comment (verbal or written) on all the alternatives presented in the plan at the July 11, 2001, meeting or by July 30, 2001, for written comments. The Land and Water Management Division will hold a public hearing at the Clyde Township Hall, 3350 Vincent Road, North Street, Michigan. The hearing will be for Permit Application Number P, submitted by Warren Reuter, 6567 Imlay City Road, Ruby, Michigan, to finish construction of Ruby Lake. Authorization is being requested for the previous removal of approximately 750,000 cubic yards of material that was done without a valid permit. The removal of an additional 99,500 cubic yards of material is also being requested. The lake would be about 26 acres in size when the sand mining operation is completed. The project is located in Clyde Township, Oakland County, Michigan. The Land and Water Management Division will hold a public hearing at the Brownstown Charter Township Hall, Telegraph Road, Brownstown, Michigan. The hearing will be for Permit Application Number P, submitted by MJC Brentwood LLC, Suite 5, Romeo Plank Road, Macomb, Michigan, which proposes to relocate and enclose about 1,650 feet of the existing Brahmer Drain, place fill within five wetland areas, and create a detention basin with a connection to the drain for the newly proposed Kensington Estates Subdivision. A total of 1.95 acres of mitigation wetland would be created on-site. The project is located in Brownstown Township, Wayne County, Michigan. The hearing will be for Permit Application Number P, submitted by North American Equities, Inc., 372 Lakeland Avenue, Grosse Pointe, Michigan, which proposes to reroute about 450 feet of Herron Creek and excavate and fill in the wetland and floodplain adjacent to the creek. The purpose of the proposed work is to develop a residential community known as Governors Collection with an associated golf course.
