Randal Campbell at (270) WEEK OF THE EAGLES 2004 UPDATE 2 FORT CAMPBELL, Ky., June 1, 2004 Fort Campbell and the 101 st Airborne Division (Air Assault) will celebrate the biennial Week of the Eagles from June 14-19, The weeklong celebration honors the proud history of this division and installation. It is a tribute to former and current Soldiers, their families and the post s civilian neighbors. This year s celebration is especially noteworthy since many of the division Soldiers just recently returned from supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom. The theme of this year s event is The Legacy Continues. Throughout the week, Soldiers will compete in challenging sporting events. These events include the toughest air assault Soldier competition, softball, boxing, truck rodeo and golf. Information on specific Week of the Eagles events can be obtained from Lt. Col. 2 -more- WEEK OF THE EAGLES UPDATE 2/2/2 The following Week of the Eagles event information is provided. 1. WELCOME CENTER: The Welcome Center is just inside Gate 7 and provides retirees, veterans, family members and guests with specific Week of the Eagles event information. All major unit commands and separate battalions will have a representative at the Welcome Center or on call. The Welcome Center will be open from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday-Saturday. 2. REGIMENTAL OPEN HOUSES: This tour for former Soldiers and their family members will include displays of standard military equipment, a tour of the Soldier s living areas and unit headquarters and an open lunch with Soldiers. Retirees or veterans are encouraged to contact their former unit for information. 3. SOFTBALL TOURNAMENT: This single elimination tournament is open to active duty Soldiers and Fort Campbell teams only. The championship game will be played at 9 a.m., June 16. A commanders/command sergeant softball game will be held at 4:30 p.m., June TOUGHEST AIR ASSAULT SOLDIER COMPETITON: The June 15 th competition will consist of an 6-mile foot march, obstacle course, rigging procedures, a written test of Soldier skills, rappelling and push ups, sit ups and a 2.5 mile buddy run. Male and female Soldiers will be competing. 5. BOXING SMOKER: Boxers will be divided into three categories novice, open or veteran (senior). There will be 12 weight classes. Bouts are open to active duty Fort Campbell male and female Soldiers only. The finals are scheduled for 7 p.m., June 17 at Dreyer Field House. Promoter Don King is scheduled to attend the championship matches. The public is invited to attend the events and cheer their favorite boxer or team to victory. There is no admission charge.

3 -more- WEEK OF THE EAGLES 2004 UPDATE 3/3/3 6. DIVISION REVIEW: The Division Review celebrates the division s proud heritage with Soldiers and veterans. Screaming Eagle veterans are encouraged to participate in the pass and review portion of the event. This ceremony is only conducted during division changes of command and Week of the Eagles. The public is invited to attend this event which begins at 9.am., June 17, 2004, at the Division Parade Field MEMORIAL SERVICE CEREMONY: This special June 17 memorial service honors the former Soldiers and family members and preserves the legacy of our fallen comrades. The service is held at Bldg. T-39 (division and post headquarters). Due to limited seating, the 5 p.m. ceremony is not open to the public. 8. LEGACY GOLF SCRAMBLE: The June 15 th Legacy Golf Scramble is open to veterans, active duty Soldiers and invited guests only. 9. NORMANDY DINING OUT: The June 18 th Normandy Dining Out is a formal, by invitation only, dinner that pays special tribute to our veterans and their families. Seating is very limited and ticket distribution has already been made. 10. SUPER SATURDAY AIR SHOW: One of the largest air shows in Kentucky or Tennessee, the show will contain a full-scale battalion air assault, a kiddie fair, health fair and over a hundred different types of wheel and track vehicles and aircraft. Live demonstrations will include Vietnam era aircraft, Golden Knights parachute jump, a P-51 Mustang aerial performance, a Soviet MIG fighter demonstration, A-10 demonstration and a C-130 passenger airborne jump. Gates open at 8.a.m., and the air show begins at 10 a.m. and ends at 3 p.m. The public is invited. There is no admission charge. Vehicles without DoD decals must enter through Gate 7. SUPER SATURDAY CONCERT: After the air show, Fort Campbell Soldiers and family members are invited to one of the largest concerts ever held at Fort Campbell. Headliners include George Strait, Vince Gill, Lane Brody, Richard Marx, Collin Ray and Dobie Gray. The concert is free. The event is open to all active duty service members, U.S. Army Reservists, National Guardsmen, DoD/NAF civilian employees, Fort Campbell contractors and all their families and guests. The concert begins at 5 p.m., June DIVISION RUN: The June 14 run begins at Building T-39 (the division and post headquarters) at 7 a.m. and every unit passes by shaking the commanding general s hand. Everyone is encouraged to come and root for their favorite runner/unit. 14, 10K/1 MILE FUN RUN: This is a fun event for the whole family. The run begins at 8 a.m., June 15 at the Division Parade Field. Race day registration is from 6 a.m. to 7:45 a.m. For additional race information call Capt. Deleon at (270) This event is open to the public. ADDITIONAL WEEK OF THE EAGLE INFORMATION: A, All Week of the Eagles visitor s must enter through Gate 7. To gain access to post each driver must produce a valid driver s license, valid vehicle registration and proof of liability insurance. All adult passengers must have a photo ID. Shuttle bus service will be used for the air show. Gate 7 security personnel will provide instructions directing visitors parking lots. B. Everyone entering the Fort Campbell military reservation is subject to search at any time. All persons, bags, backpacks, strollers, coolers and vehicles are subject to search at anytime while on the installation. -more-

5 WEEK OF THE EAGLES --UPDATE 5/5/5 C. The following items may not be brought into any Week of the Eagles event site; weapons, glass containers or bottles, alcoholic beverages and large bags. D. The following items may be brought to Week of the Eagles events. Small coolers 8x8x12 (type you can carry 6-pack of soda and a couple of sandwiches; (food and drinks will be available for purchase at most venues), cameras (no video cameras are allowed at the concert), strollers, umbrellas, personal hand bags and diaper changing bags, small backpacks and video cameras (except at the concert). Everyone is encouraged to bring lawn chairs, water and sun screen to each event. We also recommend people bring ear plugs for the air show.
