Atlantic St., Springfield,Mo. Come on out and get involved with your Branch. LAST MEETING: Our meeting was called to order by S/M President at 1800 with 10 members in attendance. The Pledge of Allegiance to the flag and the Preamble to the Constitution of the FRA was repeated by all members. A motion was made by S/M Wes Lord to dispense with reading the minutes of last meeting FEBRUARY 26, 2015 and approved as published in the March Newsletter, seconded by S/M Forrest Durnell and motion. STANDING COMMITTEE REPORTS: AMERICANISM/PATRIOTISM - S/M Bobbie Combs reported: No Report. HOSPITAL No Report LEGISLATIVE The following FRA News-Bytes were available to read: 2/27/2015, 3/6/2015, 3/13/2015 3/20/ from Senator McCaskill dated 3/11/2015 on What I Learned in Cuba. MEMBERSHIP 0 New member, 0 Transfer-Out, 1 Transfer-In, 0 Reinstated, 1 Deletions, 1 Suspension, 2 Members past due, 156 Total active members, 2 Members Past due, 154 Members in good standing. PUBLIC RELATIONS S/M Nolan Moody reported on: The traveling Viet Nam Wall that will be set up at American Legion Post 639 from July (8 11), It will be open around the clock. We will need FRA Members to man the Wellness area. S/M President is handling the watch list. We will set up the FRA Tent on Thursday the 9 th of July. S/M Secretary will check with Cub Scout Pack 694 to see if they would be willing to participate. YOUTH S/M Chuck Ewy reported: Cub Scout Pack 694 has tentatively agreed to help out with the FRA Wellness area for the Viet Nam Traveling Memorial Wall. COMMUNICATIONS S/M Secretary made available to all Shipmates: National FRA Membership Newsletter for March. NED Memo (1-15) Annual Report of Branch Officers NED Memo (2-15) Annual Report Forms NED Memo (3-15) Certification of Branch Representation at the 88 th National Convention NED Memo (4-15) Branch Nominating Resolution from FRA on Scholarships for TREASURERS REPORT S/M Secretary gave the Treasurers report. All Bills paid. UNFINISHED AND DEFERRED: None NEW BUSINESS: S/M Secretary made a motion that Branch 316 elect S/M Bobbie Combs our Chairman on the Regional and National Branch Delegation Credential Certificate. Motion Seconded by S/M Virginia Swayne and passed. S/M Secretary made a motion that Branch 316 grant the Chairman of this Branch s Convention Delegation the authority to add the name of any member in good standing of this Branch at the NCR Convention and the National Convention to the Delegate Credential Certificate. Motion Seconded by S/M Forrest Durnell and passed. S/M President asked for volunteers for the Nominating Committee: Forrest Durnell, Chuck Ewy and
3 S/M Nolan Moody made a motion that Branch 316 purchase a new US Flag. It was seconded by S/M Virginia Swayne and passed. GOOD OF THE ORDER: S/M Nolan Moody mentioned that on May 1st, 2nd, and 3rd there will be fund raisers for the Viet Nam Memorial Wall. The Wall will get to Springfield on July 8 th. There will be an opening ceremony at 6 a.m. on the 10 th, and a closing ceremony at 6 p.m. on the 12 th. S/M Bobbie Combs made a motion to adjourn, seconded by S/M Forrest Durnell. Passed. 4 The Viet Nam Traveling Memorial Wall 2015 American Legion Post #639 is hosting The Vietnam Traveling Memorial Wall. A 3/5 scale replica of The Wall in DC, it is 288 feet long and is 6 foot high at the center. There are 58,195 names on The Wall, 30 from Springfield. It will be in Springfield, Missouri July 9 th through July 12 th at Post #639. The Wall will arrive at the Post approximately 4:00 pm, (1600 Hours), on July 8 th coming from North Carolina, with a Motor Cycle escort from the Mo. / Ark. State Line. We would like every one that can, to be at Post #639 wearing your VSO Covers to greet the Wall and its Crew at that time. The Wall set up will be on the morning of July 9 th and when ready will open to the public. The Wall will be open 24 hours a day until close and disassembly. The following is a list of activities that require volunteers to accomplish and a point of contact person to call to be put on their roster: 1. Directory Tent: Name locators.
