The EBRSO Plunge team raised $1,633 for the cause bringing the event s tototal to more than $25,000. This year s plunge raised more than double from Polar Plunge is a yearly fundraising event where individuals and teams have the opportunity to jump into the icy waters of Cabela's lake to raise money to provide year-round sports training and athletic completion for children and adults with intellectual disabilities. 3 East Baton Rouge Sheriff s Office Page 3 Congratulations On January 25, 2012, Cpl. Jesse Hale and Cpl. Shannon Graham attended the 2012 National Narcotic Detector Dog Training (NNDDA) Seminar & Competition, which was held at Dixon Correctional Institute and Louisiana State Penitentiary. Cpl. Hale and Cpl. Graham were successful in certifying with their K-9 s through the National Narcotic Detector Dog Association, while attending the seminar. Cpl. Shannon Graham with K-9 Mylo finished in 3 rd place and Cpl. Jesse Hale with K-9 Jumma finished in 2 nd place during the January 27th competition at the Civic Center in Jackson, La. A total of 46 teams competed for Top Dog. Teams that were in attendance included agencies from Department of Corrections, State Police, and numerous local law enforcement agencies within the State. This was the first time ever that an agency outside the Department Of Corrections and State Police, finished within the top three places at this competition. The competition consisted of K-9 teams searching a large warehouse area which contained several different objects, from cars, boats, 4-wheelers, along with office supplies, such as desk and file cabinets. Handlers were given a total of three minutes to search the area, at which time K-9s were to locate and alert to as many finds possible within the time limit. Supervisor of the Quarter: Sgt. Darrell Ruth A-Shift Security Parish Prison The K-9 Division is very proud of these handlers and their K-9s, for the hard work and dedication that they put forth, making a name for the East Baton Rouge Sheriff s Office K-9 Division. Chaplain s Corner: Verse of the Month A nd now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love. 1 Corinthians 13:13
