Intelligence is the key. Focus on areas of known illegal activity, threat or vulnerability: - Saint Lawrence Seaway - Chicago - Niagara River - Duluth/Thunder Bay - Detroit/Saint Clair Rivers - Sault Ste Marie Expand presence on the International Maritime Border on each of the four border lakes. Budget permitting Create a Coordination/Intel Fusion Center 12
13 Strike Forces The Coast Guard Strike Forces nationwide: Ft Dix New Jersey, San Francisco, CA, Mobile, AL Strike teams facilitate preparedness and response to oil and hazardous substance pollution incidents in order to protect public health and the environment. Provide rapid response support in incident management, site safety, contractor performance monitoring, resource documentation, response strategies, hazard assessment and oil spill dispersant Adding Biological Response Capability 13
14 Maritime Safety and Security Teams (MSST) Specialized domestic waterside security force during port safety and security missions. It will possess armed fast boat capability and maritime law enforcement expertise. MSST LANT is located in the tidewater, VA area and MSST PAC in Seattle, WA. Ohio Brief 20 14
