Internet release is authorized. 3. DIRECTIVES AFFECTED. With the addition of this Commandant Change Notice, Military Assignments and Authorized Absences, COMDTINST M1000.8A, is updated. 4. MAJOR CHANGES. a. 10 USC 701 was updated by the most recent NDAA, removing spousal/paternity (10 days) and adoption leave (21 days) and replaced them with Primary (42 days) and Secondary (21 days) Caregiver Leave while specifically speaking to Maternity Convalescent Leave (42 days), which was never in the law before. b. The Parental Leave policy is moved into a new Chapter 6 in this Manual. 6. ENVIRONMENTAL ASPECT AND IMPACT CONSIDERATIONS. a.
