NORWOOD LEGAL EMPLOYMENT United States Attorney s Office - Southern District of Illinois, August Present Assistant United States Attorney, August 1998-August 2008; February 2009-Present - Conducting and directing criminal investigations; ensuring that investigations are complete and accomplished utilizing resources of the United States Attorney's Office, other agencies, outside expert witnesses, and consultants; identifying prosecutive theories, including relevant sentencing factors; organizing and presenting evidence in pre-trial hearings, trials, sentencings, and other court-related proceedings; handling appeals and preparing briefs and other necessary pleadings before the appellate courts; and maintaining and organizing active criminal docket with numerous cases and defendants. Chief of the Criminal Division, August February The Criminal Division Chief has the responsibility for the overall supervision of the Criminal Division. The Criminal Division is the largest division in the United States Attorneys Office and is responsible for the prosecution of all federal offenses within this District. The Criminal Division includes: (1) a General Crimes Section, which prosecutes cases involving violent crime, bank robberies, guns, illegal narcotics, and other federal crimes; (2) a White Collar Crime Section, which prosecutes cases of financial fraud, civil rights violations, health care fraud, public corruption, and environmental crimes; and (3) a Narcotics and the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force section, which prosecutes violations of the narcotics laws by large, multi-jurisdictional organizations. The Criminal Division Chief supervises 23 attorneys and 16 support personnel. The Criminal Division Chief directly supervises the section supervisors and is the reviewing official for all attorney and support positions within the Criminal Division.
