Per80nal Property Utilization and Di8p08al Program, 5 December 1960, and DoD Instruction 41(30.27, Demilita~ization of Materiel, 14 December 196. Its purpoee i to 8et fo~th DoD demilitarization policy, ppeecribe uniform procedure8 for assigning demilitarization codee to DoD p~operty~ and direct methods for completing demilitarization. The manual is effective immediately and is mandatory fon use by all DoD Component. The provisions of this manual have been completely ~evised to reflect the policy set forth by the International Traffic in rms Regulation (ITR), 22 Code of Federal Regulations, Subchapter M, l?ovembe~ Significant changes include a major ghift of materials from overseas demilitarization only (appendix 5) to worldwide demilitarization (appendix 4], the identification of Significant Military Equipment, expanded scope of the property affected (U.S. Origin), definitive coding guidance, additional commodities included ag Strategic List Items and identification o! strategic commodities (appendix 6).
