1 IRVING HIGH SCHOOL MCJROTC NEWSLETTER 10/22/2015 Parents: We have been very busy with events lately and just wanted to recap some of the things we did and highlight what is coming up next: Cadets from MCJROTC conduct the Camp Wisdom Leadership Day Camp on Friday 2 Oct Cadets from MCJROTC support the Color Guard for Homecoming 2015: (Cadets Lucey Kelsey, Elizabeth Marcia, Cathy Gomez and Kala Gonzalez pictured) Cadets from Irving MCJROTC Drill Team support the Midlothian Police Department Oct (Cadets Yamishelle Perez, Kailee Dean, Kendle Moffet, Jonathan Roman, Mark Casarez, Jamie Figuero, Dotrell Ross pictured)

3 Cadets from Irving HS MCJROTC support Disabled Veterans at a nighttime event in Southern Dallas Veterans Center in Oct 2015 (Cadets Sindi Flores and Bryant Chambers pictured) On 16 October, Irving and Macarthur JROTCs partnered up to do a joint Cyberpatriot round. On 19 Cadets attended UT Arlington to learn about college life and the college ROTC scholarships.
4 On 17 October members of the JROTC Marksmanship team did a fundraiser carwash On 22 October members of the JROTC were honored and participated in a CTE leadership seminar On 22 October, Norwich University provided a brief to hopeful Juniors and Seniors on scholarship opportunities

November TBD Cyber Round 1 November 5th LtCol Fears Spring Creek BBQ w /MOWW November 7 th POSSIBLE PT Competition in San Antonio November 10 MC Birthday or N I 35 E of Royal Lane and Walnut Hill 5 Cadets SgtMaj Martin (Metroplex Luncheon)*(Special Instructions, Cake, swords, music) November 11 Veterans Day Parade November 13 McKinney High School MC Ball 5 Cadets SgtMaj Martin November 14 Land Navigation Competition Potsborough December 5 POSSIBLE SOUTH GRAND PRAIRE MEET December 12 th (still TBD) Toys for Tots DONATIONS TO VETERANS The Irving HS MCJROTC and the Girl Scouts are teaming up to collect donations of travel size hygiene items and snacks for both men and women. We will send these care packages to our service men and women currently overseas in Afghanistan and other regions. Please bring your donations to JROTC or contact one of the JROTC Marine Instructors for more information. Care Products Toothbrush: Sometimes a good toothbrush is hard to find while on deployment. Baby Wipes: Baby wipes are a great way to clean your body. They can even be used instead of a show in a pinch. Body Spray: Great smelling, and good for keeping your soldier smelling good. Laundry Detergent: These single-load packets are easy to pack, and work great. Chapstick: Help out with that desert environment Food: Pringles: Great item to send to a soldier. Easy to pack and they don't crumble on the way. Beef Jerky: Jerky is a crowd favorite. Make sure to include a bag with your care package.
6 Cookies: Brings a smile on their worst day. Hard Candy: These hard candies are a great treat while on the move, and they can be handed out to locals as well. Gatorade Powder: These little packets are great, easy to care and just dump into a bottle of water or straight into a camelback MOST IMPORTANT: LETS WORK ON KEEPING THEIR GRADES UP TUTORING TUTORING TUTORING!!!!!!!!
