3 NRL MISSION TO CONDUCT A BROADLY BASED MULTIDISCIPLINARY PROGRAM OF SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH AND ADVANCED TECHNOLOGICAL DEVELOPMENT DIRECTED TOWARD MARITIME APPLICATIONS OF NEW AND IMPROVED MATERIALS, TECHNIQUES, EQUIPMENT, SYSTEMS AND OCEAN, ATMOSPHERIC, AND SPACE SCIENCES AND RELATED TECHNOLOGIES.
