1 Readjustment Counseling Service Mobile Program
2 Initial MVC Demonstration for Congress, October Mobile s are being utilized to provide access to VA for returning Veterans via outreach to demobilization active military bases, National Guard, and Reserve locations nationally. The vehicles provide essential homeless Veteran services including participation in Stand Down events. The vehicles also support services to rural areas geographically distant from VA services. Each Mobile is equipped with a state of the art satellite communications package that includes fully encrypted tele-health equipment, access to all VA systems (Computerized Patient Record System, MyHealthEVet) and connectivity to emergency response systems (Emergency Management Strategic Healthcare Group).
3 MVC STAFF Counselor & Readjustment Counseling Technician
4 Mobile Mission The mobile counseling centers brings services closer to veterans in more geographic areas. It serves veterans and their families by providing quality care that add value for veterans, families and communities. Care includes professional readjustment counseling, community education, outreach to special populations, the brokering of services with community agencies, and provides a key access link between the veteran and other services in the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.
5 Services on board MVC mirror those offered at s Individual Counseling Screening for Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) Referrals for Sexual Trauma Counseling Marital/Family Counseling Bereavement Counseling Drug and Alcohol Counseling Liaison with the VA Information and Referral to community resources Community Education and Outreach Referrals for benefits assistance
6 Active Military, National Guard & Reserve Sites The vehicles can be used to provide follow-up services at National Guard Armories and Reserve Centers, often located in rural areas with limited access to services. Services available will also include healthcare enrollment, VA Benefits information and a variety of other options as appropriate to the event.
7 PDHRA s & Yellow Ribbon Events The Mobile can support events by bringing confidential counseling space where privacy and/or confidentiality might present challenges. Each vehicle is equipped with two confidential counseling rooms where counselors and outreach specialists can meet individually with veterans and family members and provide readjustment services. The counseling areas will be separated by a door designed specifically to maximize confidentiality.
8 Bereavement Services Mobile 's have been mobilized to provide bereavement counseling to family members in rural areas.
9 Confidentiality The Mobile staff respects the privacy of all veterans. We hold in the strictest confidence all information disclosed in the counseling process. No information will be released to any person or agency without written consent from the client, except in circumstances averting a crisis.
10 VSAT System (Very Small Aperture Satellite) Every MVC is equipped with a VSAT System that enables the team to become a fully capable no matter the geographical location.

15 Response to Ft. Hood Tragedy, November 2009 VHA Mobile s arrived at the Killeen on the day of the shooting to assist the veteran community and any assistance requested by Ft. Hood. Four were initially deployed and currently three remain in the area. The VHA Vet Center and VA Medical Center worked collaboratively to assist the community in the area. The Program has provided readjustment counseling services continuously since the incident at Ft. Hood to over 6,600 veterans, active duty service members, and families. The local Ft. Hood surrounding municipalities requested counseling services and assisted in the local advertising and the business community has provided space and support to the Vet Center employees providing assistance.
