1 DCS A-10C: Hideout Mission v1.1 by derelor 1. Mission overview Allied Forces discovered a small terrorist base in a valley on Georgia territory in close proximity to Russian and South Ossetian borders. Due to high tensions between Georgia and Russia neutralisation of this hideout is very delicate business. US and NATO forces with the help of local military are sending in a spec ops squad to take control over this camp and to find some valid evidence of Russian origin of this terrorist group. Two UH-60 Black Hawks with task squad on board and one scout heli OH-58D are already on their way to the area. German Tornados will provide SEAD cover, your flight will clear the target area from other threats. We're not expecting strong resistance, though terrorists might have some light air defenses including MANPADs. Satellite image of terrorist base located in the valley Global map of the area - target is highlighted in red 1/8
2 2. Briefing You're to lead a 2-ship of A-10s, callsign Hawg 2. A Georgian airforce officer on board of a scout helicopter (OH-58, callsign Uzi 21) will lead other helicopters and provide real-time target info and communication support. Tornados will be waiting for clearance to begin the attack. Use F10 ("10. Other") radio menu for communication with other flights Takeoff at Meet Uzi 21 at Rendezvous Point (RP) Get latest target info from Uzi 21 Hold orbit pattern to South-East of RP Clear SEAD flight to take out any SAMs in target area and wait for Tornados to do the job Destroy all threats in target area Clear helicopters to push to target area and drop task force When task force will be on the ground, clear helicopters to go RTB RTB Detailed map of the area surrounding the target 2/8
3 ROE Any military vehicle in target area declared hostile. Maintain inbound/outbound altitude at 18'000 ft, hard deck is 4'500 ft AGL, which is about 10'500 ft ASL around target area. Do not destroy bunkers in target area. Do not cross borders of Russia or South Ossetia under any circumstances. A good strategy is to let Wingman attack first: 1. Order Wingman to attack ground targets with Mavericks: HOTAS Mic Switch DOWN Wingman... (F1) Engage with... (F3) Engage Ground Targets... (F1) Missile... (F1) Default (F1) 2. Order Wingman to attack ground targets with guided bombs: HOTAS Mic Switch DOWN Wingman... (F1) Engage with... (F3) Engage Ground Targets... (F1) Guided bomb... (F1) Default (F1) Attack from the distance, use all four Mavericks first. When all targets are destroyed, you receive the following radio call: Hawg 21, Uzi 21, All targets destroyed Wingman firing a Maverick Terrorist base burning Do not enter the no-fly zone! If you do, you get the following warning: Hawg 21, Wizard, You have entered no-fly zone, leave it immediately! You can use the tanker's racetrack contrail as a visual reference. If you are lost, fly in the direction of the vapor trail. 7 Clear helicopters to push to target area and drop task force Uzi 21, Hawg, Affirm. You're cleared to go [Uzi 21]: Roger that. Proceeding to target area. ETA 10 minutes After these radio calls, it takes approx. 10 minutes until the Black Hawks arrive at the terrorist base. You don't have to wait and can head back home. Fly directly to WP #3 ( WP4 ). 6/8
7 Black Hawk enroute 8 Arrival at the target. Dropping of the Task Force is not animated When task force will be on the ground, clear helicopters to go RTB Hawg 21, Uzi 21, Our mission is complete, ready to RTB Uzi 21, Hawg 21, Affirm, go RTB Hawg 21, Uzi, Roger, RTB You can make these radio calls on your way back to Vaziani. If you are fast, you are already in the landing phase at this point. 9 RTB Fly back to Vaziani, land and leave the runway. If you come to a halt, the message Mission complete! is displayed. Good job! If you want, perform shutdown procedure. Safe landing at Vaziani Woohoo! Mission complete! 7/8
