An honored tradition of service to the military Our Military Products Team proudly builds on a 70-year legacy of innovation and service in supplying mobile power to the military. Allied forces relied on Cummins power generation equipment in World War II Cummins developed the first standardized military generator set for the U.S. Department of Defense We supplied: 5 kw and 10 kw engines and alternators for the Tactical Quiet Generator sets (TQG) procured by the U.S. Department of Defense Generator sets to the Rock Island Arsenal for the Forward Repair System Cummins diesel engines have powered several generations of military vehicles, including the current British Marconi AS90 self-propelled howitzer and the U.S. Bradley Fighting Vehicle

Military Products Group Going anywhere and building anything to fulfill your mobile power mission

A power team with a heritage and a mission The Military Products Team has a sole purpose deliver on our commitment to providing the most reliable mobile power solutions for military organizations around the world. Designing and developing custom products in accordance with demanding military standards and processes Performing the challenging application engineering work Providing all the necessary logistical support and service wherever and whenever they are needed We specialize in systems and capabilities that go well beyond commercially available generators to meet your unique needs.

The tradition continues Cummins is the prime contractor for the next generation of Advanced Medium Mobile Power Source (AMMPS) generator sets and trailerized power units and power plants, as well as the Basic Expeditionary Airfield Resources (BEAR) mobile power units.

Advanced Medium Mobile Power Sources (AMMPS) The U.S. Army selected Cummins to develop its latest mobile generator, which Cummins is currently producing. The AMMPS unit offers several operational advantages over its predecessor: Substantially reduced logistics footprint (fuel and maintenance) 21% reduction in fuel consumption when compared with current systems Higher system reliability Improved mobility and transportability Lighter weight Significant operations and maintenance (O&M) cost savings Basic Expeditionary Airfield Resources (BEAR) power unit The U.S. Air Force has selected Cummins to develop the BEAR power unit. This product will provide a unique combination of reliability, safety and regulatory compliance. In addition, its performance will offer significant operational advantages for the Air Force. Specifically, the new BEAR power unit will provide: JP-8 compatibility, affording multiple fuel options Air and surface mobility any time, any place Night vision control for ease of operation at night Lightweight, weather-resistant aluminum enclosure Ergonomic service entry for easy performance of scheduled maintenance

Custom generator sets for the most difficult environments We specialize in mobile power systems with requirements that go well beyond anything commercially available units that need to work flawlessly after being dropped in by parachute, units located in deserts with temperatures of 50ºC or units in such frigid environments that operators must wear arctic mittens. Starting with a given requirement of utmost reliability, we can design, develop and produce a mobile power system with whatever characteristics you specify, including: Excellent power quality; rated power at altitude Ability to run on multiple fuels and operate at environmental extremes Battlefield mobility and survivability Nuclear, biological and chemical contamination survivability Low infrared and noise signature Ability to withstand high-altitude electromagnetic pulse Organic support by regular troops Full project capabilities from start to finish Our Military Products Team brings a group of specialized experts to bear on your requirements. They design and develop a system tailored to meet your specific needs, including exceptional performance, fuel efficiency and ultra ruggedness. We have extensive experience in working with military standards and requirements, executing mechanical, electrical and application engineering work that translates a custom design into your unique product. Our project managers stay with the projects through completion, providing a single point of contact for you across multiple regions or countries.
