4 MD100 Cadet Basic Training Receive, integrate and train New Cadets in fundamental military skills in order to transition them from civilians to soldiers and to prepare them for acceptance into the Corps of Cadets. 6 MS100 Introduction to Warfighting The focus of MS 100 is to provide cadets with the foundation of military and tactical knowledge necessary for future field training and development in subsequent Military Science courses. Cadets will gain a solid foundation built on basic Army concepts such as Shoot, Move, Communicate, and Survive. Cadets will also learn fundamental Army unit organizations, capabilities and missions, and develop an understanding of the roles of NCOs and Officers. Cadets who have successfully completed MS100 will understand their role as Soldiers and will be well prepared to demonstrate technical proficiency at Cadet Field Training. Course Outcomes Understand Army Organizations and basic branches within the U.S. Army Familiarized with the capabilities and employment of US Army basic weapon systems Familiarized with Map Reading/Land Navigation and Military Movement/Maneuver Understand Tactical Combat Casualty Care framework Familiarized with Tactical Communication to include equipment, reporting, and adjusting indirect fire Exposed to the common language of Army Doctrine (Operational terms & graphics) Familiarized with the Troop Leading Procedures and communicating tactical information Can derive and brief a squad level warning order Field Instruction Machine Gun Theory Range Cards

12 MS200 Small Unit Operations The focus of MS200 is to build strong, confident tactical decision-makers who understand U.S. Army Doctrine and are able to apply deliberate thought and common sense in solving tactical problems. Decisiveness, adaptability, and strength of character are essential for a commissioned officer charged with leading American Soldiers in combat. Course Objectives Demonstrate the ability to make tactical decisions under pressure with limited information and limited time. Identify and understand tactical mission tasks, purposes, and how to nest units tasks and purposes. Effectively analyze terrain, weather, and enemy capabilities to effectively frame the tactical problem. Identify the principles behind small unit tactics and apply them to mission planning. Describe and apply the troop leading procedures, examine tactical mission planning, and effectively communicate that plan.

14 MD300 West Point Leader Detail Purpose: To learn and experience the roles and functions of non-commissioned officers and officers while training and leading their subordinates and while maintaining unit readiness. 16 MS300 Platoon Operations The focus of MS300 is to build strong, confident tactical decision-makers who understand U.S. Army Doctrine and are able to apply creative thinking and common sense in solving tactical problems. Course Objectives Demonstrate an understanding of Army operational doctrine and small unit tactics. Demonstrate the ability to analyze and extract pertinent information from higher headquarters orders, and apply this information to tactical problems. Demonstrate the ability to clearly communicate a tactical course of action both verbally and visually. Demonstrate an understanding of how to apply the troop leading procedures to planning a tactical operation. Demonstrate an understanding of how to apply the principals of direct fire planning, and effectively employ organic and attached weapon systems. Demonstrate an understanding of how to effectively plan for and leverage various battlefield assets at the platoon level. Demonstrate an understanding of the Law of War, Rules of Engagement and the Code of Conduct in accordance with FM and AR

20 MD400 Cadet Troop Leader Training CTLT provides upper class cadets with realistic leadership experiences in the Operating Force. Assessments CONUS CTLT Assessed by a member of the hosting unit CoC. MPSC Grade and unofficial OER. Course Outcomes Understanding the command, training, administrative, and logistical functions of a company-level unit and the responsibilities of newly-assigned lieutenants Familiarity with the on- and off-duty environment of a junior officer. Development of leadership skills in a unsupervised environment where the cadet is individually responsible for their performance, conduct, military competence and physical fitness OCONUS CTLT

24 The Branching Program Goals Meet the needs of the Army by aligning cadets skills, knowledge, and behavior (talent) with branch talent demands. Give Branch Commandants a voice in the process. Enhance the quality of cadets branching decisions by engaging in a four-year branch mentoring process, integrated with WPLDS. Promote cadet satisfaction with branching, by mentoring them toward better-informed branch preferences.
