3 NIE: Essential to Army Priorities Army Campaign Plan Lines of Effect: Reform and Restructure Prepare for Tomorrow NIEs lead to improved Operational Effects and increased Operational Capability. Getting proven and integrated capabilities into the hands of the Soldier. The Soldier and Squad is the centerpiece of our Army. Our modernization efforts are focused on strengthening that centerpiece. We will continue to be good stewards of resources by developing capabilities through prudent investment, modernization and transformation of the institutional Army. 3
4 NIE Capability Progress and Projection NIE Providing capabilities to the Soldier: More than 140 industry candidates assessed as part of the 4 NIEs. NIE 14.1: What we are looking for Transport Convergence operationally evaluated (capacity/performance tested) COE Environment implemented Improved capability at the edge (ISR, Aerial layer & Enterprise systems) Capability set baseline refined Home station training capacity improved (ILAAD, LVC-ITE) Solutions for Operational Energy evaluated (CP enhancement, energy reduction) BCT set for Joint Operations in 14.2 The Army has made POR and non-por system procurements as a result of NIEs, including Rifleman Radio, WIN-T Inc 2, HMS, Command Post, Nett Warrior handhelds, tactical radios, antennas, mitigators/filters and integration kits. 4
