Burlington Police Department 2015 Key Accomplishments The Parking Enforcement Attendant identified over 582 abandoned vehicles (a 9% increase over 2014) resulting in 52 vehicles being towed from the

3 Burlington Police Department 2015 Key Accomplishments The Parking Enforcement Attendant identified over 582 abandoned vehicles (a 9% increase over 2014) resulting in 52 vehicles being towed from the streets. The remaining vehicles were moved by the vehicle owners in a cooperative effort. Accomplished a 96.35% compliance rate for seatbelt usage. Significant progress was made in converting analog radio technology to a more current digital radio system. Utilized Justice Assistance Grant funding for the purchase of point-of-view cameras for all patrol officers. Established a Minority Recruitment Committee to identify and overcome challenges in reaching minority applicants for public safety positions. Achieved a 77.8% voter approval for the purchase of the current US Bank building to become the new Police Department facility. Secured a $250,000 COPS Hiring Grant for establishing a two-officer Problem Oriented Policing unit. Concluded the Federal prosecution of a major drug trafficking organization in the Burlington area. Completed the training of two Reserve Officers and began utilizing these officers as manpower during peak

Force is defined as anything more than verbal commands needed to handcuff a noncompliant arrestee. 26 Burlington Police Department 2016 Goals Complete concept and design of the new Burlington Police Department facility Implement the new San Jose Field Training model Begin to implement new policing strategy to include the problem solving triangle in an effort to reduce gun violence. Complete countywide law enforcement digital radio implementation. Develop our community outreach by continuing to increase educational opportunities with area landlords. Secure donations to finance the implementation of the K9 Unit. Upgrade audio/video recording devices in the Criminal Investigation Division with expandable capabilities at the new police department facility.
