2 FORT CARSON CHILD SUPERVISION POLICY (FLYER) FORT CARSON WEBSITE CHANGES The Fort Carson website, has some new features and sections to keep the community informed of upcoming activities, classes and facility and gate closures. See the "Carson Calendar and More" tab at the top of the homepage for a community calendar listing, Family readiness group updates and a Community Information Exchange summary. The "News You Need to Know Now" section lists announcements provided by organizations across the installation on upcoming Fort Carson events, classes and services.

3 GATE CLOSURES Gates 6 and 19 will be closed Nov. 10 in observance of Veteran's Day. They will reopen for normal business Nov. 13. Normal business hours for Gates 6 and 19 are 5 a.m. to 6 p.m. The Visitor Control Center will remain open for normal business hours, 5 a.m. to 9 p.m., Nov. 10. The Directorate of Emergency Services will conduct routine maintenance on the vehicle barriers Nov. 11. The following gates will be closed to both inbound and outbound traffic during the following times: --Gate 20 will be closed 7-10 a.m. --Gate 5 roadway at the barrier will be closed 10 a.m. to noon. The housing areas will be accessible through Gate 5. Golf course and hospital access will be through Gate 1. Commercial vehicles going to the housing area just inside Gate 5 will be processed at Gate 5 during this time. --Gate 4 will be closed 1-4 p.m. These hours are approximate and may be adjusted slightly. Community members should plan to use the other gates for access to Fort Carson during these times. To see where these gates are located, visit NATIVE AMERICAN HERITAGE November is National Native American Heritage Month, and a 4th Infantry Division and Headquarters and Headquarters Battalion, 4th Inf. Div., observance is scheduled for Nov. 27 at 3 p.m. at the Elkhorn Conference Center. This year s theme is Standing Together. The event will include a guest speaker and cultural demonstration.

13 CAREER SKILLS PROGRAM UPCOMING EVENTS (FLYERS) The Fort Carson Career Skills Program (CSP) offers opportunities for eligible transitioning service members to gain the knowledge, skills and abilities needed for successful careers after they transition from active duty. To be eligible for any CSP, transitioning service members must be on active duty and within 180 days of transitioning from service as of the class start date, anticipate fully honorable or under honorable conditions discharge and have approval of the first field grade commander in their chain to participate. Each program also has additional eligibility criteria. Interested transitioning service members are encouraged to attend the appropriate information session as indicated below. They can also visit the Career Skills Program Office (building 6236, rooms ) Monday-Friday, 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.

16 EDUCATION CENTER OPEN HOUSE The American Education Week Open House will take place Nov. 15 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Fort Carson Education Center. This year's theme is "Army Continuing Education: Achieving Academic Excellence While Serving." The open house will feature local schools and a turkey raffle for Soldiers and spouses. Refreshments will be served. Stop by and speak with representatives from Pikes Peak Community College, Embry Riddle Aeronautical University, National American University, University of Colorado-CS, Colorado State University-Pueblo, Webster, Colorado Christian University, and Colorado Technical College. The Education Center is located in building 1117; corner of Specker Avenue and Ellis Street, across the street from the USO.

19 HUNTER EDUCATION COURSE The Fort Carson Conservation Law Enforcement Program will host the Colorado Hunters Education Course. The course will be held at the Cheyenne Mountain Shooting Complex. Course dates are Nov. 18 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Nov. 19 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Participants must attend both days and pass the Hunters Education exam to receive the Hunters Education certification.
