1 164th Regiment Ohio Volunteer Infantry. ONE HUNDRED DAYS SERVICE THIS Regiment was organized at Camp Cleveland, 0., 11, 1864, to serve one hundred days. It was composed of the Forty-ninth Regiment, Ohio National Guard, from Seneca County, and the Fifty-fourth Battalion, Ohio National Guard, from Summit County. On the 14th of the Regiment left Cleveland, and proceeding via Dunkirk, Elmira, Harrisburg, and Balti more, reached Washington City on the 17th. It took position in the defenses on the south side of the Potomac, and during its one hundred days service garrisoned Forts Smith, Strong, Bennett, Haggarty, and other forts. At the expiration of its term of enlistment the Regiment returned to Cleveland, via Baltimore, Harrisburg, and Pittsburgh, and was mustered out August 27, 1864, on expiration of term of service.
