4 Crime and Traffic Campaigns/Initiatives: Safeguard Ontario: Other: Police Services Board Report for Quinte West 216/Jul to 216/Sep Provincial traffic campaigns supported included Canada Day long weekend- Aggressive driving, Civic Day long weekend- Move over and Labour Day long weekend- seatbelts. In addition our detachment had focused patrols for impaired drivers, speeding along Dundas St and Dufferin Ave to address areas of concern and adding to the overall public safety on our roadways. Focused patrols for criminal activity included thefts of gas, mischiefs in areas identified throughout our community including Trenton, Frankford, Murray and Sidney wards, and frauds. These patrols included enforcement and education components. The detachment, in conjunction with the Auxiliary unit, have continued to offer the Safeguard program to property crime victims. 216 to date, the safeguard program has been offered on eight occasions, seven of which were accepted. This includes six residences and one business. In August 216, the OPP hosted the Heroes kids camp, in partnership with fire, EMS and DND. PC Dave Ludington facilitated the leadership camp where 12 children from across our community got exposure to first responders and the world of emergency service. PC Matthew Raycroft continues to champion the Project Lifesaver program which assists with locating missing Alzheimer's patients. He has been involved in training sessions with neighboring communities and continues to work with local agencies. PC April McCaffrey has been active in the Hastings County Situation table and through referrals to this table, we have been able to connect citizens with Community Services to improve their well-being and reduce the related calls for service to police. We continue to use analytics to identify strategic priorities for resource assignment. We have utilized our speed recording device at 17 locations throughout the City. We have also conducted 23 traffic studies at the request of the City to assist in their planning. Detachment Emergency Planning Activities Emergency Planning Activities Table-Top Exercises Other: Community event planning continues to be a priority to ensure safe events for all. The events this summer were numerous including Canada Day and the Scottish-Irish festival, both of which were successful. Proactive planning for safety and security for these events, in conjunction with the City of Quinte West, continues to ensure the events are problem free Quinte West OPP and the Military Police engaged in a joint emergency exercise in where an explosion was simulated with a joint response and investigation.
