9 OLD DOMINION SQUADRON Who We Are The Old Dominion Squadron is a Virginia unit of the Commemorative Air Force Founded in 1983 near Richmond, Virginia Chartered by the Commemorative Air Force in 1986 Moved to Hampton Roads Executive Airport (PVG) in Chesapeake, Virginia in 1985

11 OLD DOMINION SQUADRON Who We Are Most Old Dominion Squadron members come from the Tidewater and Richmond, Virginia areas plus Colorado, Maryland, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina and Texas.

14 STINSON OY-1 SENTINEL The Stinson OY-1 Sentinel is a two-seat World War II-vintage observation aircraft. Nearly 3,500 were built making it the second most widely Used Army Air Corps liaison aircraft.

15 STINSON OY-1 SENTINEL The aircraft served in European and Asian theaters and with the Marines in the Pacific. It continued service in the Korean War but was replaced by other aircraft and helicopters in 1955.

16 STINSON OY-1 SENTINEL With short field takeoff and landing capability, the OY-1 performed reconnaissance, artillery spotting and aerial ambulance duties. It delivered supplies, could lay communications wire, rescued Allied personnel in remote areas and even flew missions as a light bomber.

STINSON OY-1 SENTINEL This particular Stinson OY-1 Sentinel was accepted by the U.S. Army in May 1943. It later served with the U.S. Coast Guard for rescue and liaison duties.

The aircraft was sold as surplus and passed through several civilian owners before starting its new career with the Commemorative Air Force and the Old Dominion Squadron in 1998.

19 FAIRCHILD J2K-2 FORWARDER Assigned to the CAF s Old. Dominion Squadron in August 2015, the Fairchild J2K-2 Forwarder is a variant of Fairchild Aircraft Corporation s Model 24. It represents two aircraft, V-162 and V-163, that were assigned to United States Coast Guard Air Station Charleston (South Carolina) in 1936.

20 FAIRCHILD J2K-2 FORWARDER The Model 24, a four-seat, single-engine light transport monoplane, was the development of previous Fairchild models and became both a successful civil and military utility aircraft.

21 FAIRCHILD J2K-2 FORWARDER With the United States Army Air Corps, it was designated the UC-61. Procured by the British Royal Air Force, it was referred to as the Fairchild Argus.

22 FAIRCHILD J2K-2 FORWARDER In 1936, the US Navy ordered Model 24s designated as GK-1 research and instrument trainers. The type was also used by the US Army as a light transport and the United States Coast Guard with the designation J2K-1. The Civil Air Patrol operated many Fairchild UC-61/24s. Some aircraft were fitted with two 100 pound bombs for what became successful missions against German U-boats off the east coast of the United States in the early stages of World War II.
