4 Curator Branch Mission Mission: Identify, collect, preserve, interpret, and disseminate the material history and heritage of the U.S. Navy. Advise Director, Naval History and Heritage Command in his capacity as Curator for the Navy, providing technical expertise and advice on museum and curatorial matters. 300,000 artifacts Oldest artifacts predates founding of the US Acquisitions: Donors Ship decommissions Shore installation disestablishment BRAC Transfers from other agencies The Curator Branch frequently interacts with the fleet to provide guidance on the care and account of heritage assets (artifacts). The branch also provides support for commemorative and VIP events at the White House, House and Senate buildings, and the Pentagon, among others.

An incorporated museum or memorial that is operated and maintained for educational purposes only and the charter of which denies it the right to operate for profit. A post of the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States or of the American Legion or a unit of any other recognized war veterans association A local or national unit of any war veterans association of a foreign nation which is recognized by the national government of that nation (or by the government of one of the principal political subdivisions of that nation).
